Man's meth-fuelled rampage leaves path of destruction through Sydney: Cops
A man's alleged meth-fuelled rampage left a path of destruction causing $100,000 worth of damage to businesses across Sydney overnight.
Police allege a Ford ute rammed several shopfronts along Queen St in Campbelltown about 1.50am on Wednesday.
The ute was spotted by police a short time later entering the Campbelltown Police Station car park before it quickly drove off.
When officers tried to pull the car over the driver failed to stop, and a pursuit began.
The driver allegedly drove along the Hume Hwy before travelling east on the M5 Motorway for about 50kms to Mascot.
Police allege the ute entered a restricted area at the Sydney International Airport then rammed a boom gate causing significant damage.
Highway patrol and dog squad officers arrested a 47-year-old man when his vehicle stopped.
Police allege they found methylamphetamine inside the man's phone and he tested positive to the substance at a roadside drug test.
He was taken back to the Mascot Police Station for further testing and was charged with a string of offences including failing to stop, speeding, damaging property, drug possession and breach of bail.
He was refused bail to appear in the Downing Centre Local Court on Wednesday.
