"Jennifer's Body" Sequel Is Happening with Amanda Seyfried & Megan Fox Returning

Yara Sameh The cult horror film 'Jennifer's Body,' starring Megan Fox, Amanda Seyfried and Adam Brody, is nearing its 20th anniversary. Despite the film's cult status, sequel talks has been moving at a steady pace in the years following its 2009 release. Seyfried and Brody, in contention for Emmy nominations this year, recently reunited for Variety's ' Actors on Actors ' conversation where and shared important updates on the second film. 'We're making another one,' Seyfried told Brody definitively during their interview. 'I heard, what can you tell me?' he asked in return. In the original movie, 'Mamma Mia!' star Seyfried played Anita 'Needy' Lesnicki, the wallflower best friend of bad girl Fox (the titular Jennifer). Brody played Nikolai, lead singer of the aspiring rock band Low Shoulder. When the girls head to a local dive bar to see them play, Brody's character reveals bigger plans for his groupie Jennifer — a ritual sacrifice that will kill her and bring the band massive fame. Some problems arise in the fine print and Fox is transformed into a flesh-eating demon. Seyfried let on that the sequel is being spearheaded by producer Mason Novick ('Tully,' '500 Days of Summer'), who made the original with Jason Reitman and Daniel Dubiecki, which saw Brody and Fox's characters perish in the end. 'Are you going to do it?' Seyfried asked Brody about the next film, who said he hadn't been contacted about the project but noted that his character died. 'But so did Megan, and I'm not doing it without her,' Seyfried added, pitching Brody to play the devil this time around. She also suggested that original director Karyn Kusama ('Destroyer,' 'The Invitation') may be in the mix to return and that the pair had been trying to work together again after the first film. Considered a flop when the former 20th Century Fox brought it to theaters, the original grossed $31 million at the global box office on a $16 million budget. Pressure was high on Fox, who had broken big in Paramount's 'Transformers' franchise and on 'Jennifer's Body' screenwriter Diablo Cody, who had just come off an Oscar win for 'Juno.' But enduring fandom, the advent of streaming and discovery on platforms like TikTok have given 'Jennifer's Body' a strong cross-generational audience base. The movie was just shouted out on Benito Skinner's coming-of-age comedy 'Overcompensating.' Brody wondered to Seyfried what the second film should be called. 'Needy's Body,' she said. read more New Tourism Route To Launch in Old Cairo Ahmed El Sakka-Led Play 'Sayidati Al Jamila' to Be Staged in KSA on Dec. 6 Mandy Moore Joins Season 2 of "Dr. Death" Anthology Series Don't Miss These Movies at 44th Cairo Int'l Film Festival Today Amr Diab to Headline KSA's MDLBEAST Soundstorm 2022 Festival Arts & Culture Mai Omar Stuns in Latest Instagram Photos Arts & Culture "The Flash" to End with Season 9 Arts & Culture Ministry of Culture Organizes four day Children's Film Festival Arts & Culture Canadian PM wishes Muslims Eid-al-Adha News China Launches Largest Ever Aircraft Carrier Sports Former Al Zamalek Player Ibrahim Shika Passes away after Long Battle with Cancer Lifestyle Get to Know 2025 Eid Al Adha Prayer Times in Egypt News Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouly Inaugurates Two Indian Companies Business Fear & Greed Index Plummets to Lowest Level Ever Recorded amid Global Trade War Arts & Culture Zahi Hawass: Claims of Columns Beneath the Pyramid of Khafre Are Lies News Flights suspended at Port Sudan Airport after Drone Attacks News Shell Unveils Cost-Cutting, LNG Growth Plan Videos & Features Video: Trending Lifestyle TikToker Valeria Márquez Shot Dead during Live Stream Technology 50-Year Soviet Spacecraft 'Kosmos 482' Crashes into Indian Ocean

Watch: Zooey Deschanel's Hunger Games Audition Clip Is Hilarious

Last Updated: Sharing the video on her Instagram account, Zooey wrote, 'Give me an axe and you won't be disappointed.' With The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping in the making, the makers announced an official casting call for a role in the upcoming film through their official social media accounts. They asked the fans to post their videos, act out a scene, perform a song or surprise them with something completely different. And guess who just did that? Actress and musician Zooey Deschanel. Zooey, best known for her roles in 500 Days of Summer and The Good Girl, shared a hilarious video on her Instagram account, auditioning for the said role. Wearing a red striped shirt with black pants, the 45-year-old actress was seen cradling her cat. At the beginning of the clip, she said, 'Hi, I'm Zooey Deschanel. My height is between 5'4 and 6'4. You guess which side I'm on." She continued, 'I am auditioning for the role. I don't know the name of the role, but I'm also offer-only." Zooey then went on to list her skills like running, jumping and walking, hilariously enacting each one of those at her home. 'I have a lot of different skills. Running, jumping, walking, having long hair, having blue eyes, having three cats," she mentioned. In the video, the actress enacted being attacked by her cat, only to add that she was 'kidding." 'That's called acting," she said while facing the camera. Furthermore, the New Girl actress shared details on all the things she would be carrying to the arena. 'Some things I would pack for the arena. Like a change of clothes, like a concealer and a little lip gloss, just in case. Some cosy blanket, a cat, some electrolytes like maybe like a protein bar." Zooey then playfully admitted having an advantage over others because she was 'on television before." She added, 'But, like, I'm just the same as everyone else." After giving her fans a glimpse at how she would react if her name got called for the 'Reaping", she jokingly said, 'I'm not going to do it because I'm offer-only, of course. I'm only doing it if I'm being paid." In the caption of the post, Zooey wrote, 'Give me an axe and you won't be disappointed." Fans immediately started reacting to her hilarious audition clip, with one even saying, 'I'm literally like, where can we suggest that they put her? Haymitch's mom? She has a great story arc. Let's get this to casting. They haven't let us down yet…" Another added, 'Wow, this is so good. Have you ever thought about becoming an actress?" ICYDK, The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping will revisit the world of Panem 24 years before the events of the OG Hunger Games, which will begin on the morning of the reaping of the 50th Hunger Games. Directed by Francis Lawrence, the film is scheduled to be released on November 20, 2026. First Published: June 09, 2025, 17:26 IST

Johnny Depp looks unrecognizable in new movie as he mounts Hollywood comeback

Johnny Depp looks unrecognizable in new movie as he mounts Hollywood comeback Show Caption Hide Caption Johnny Depp is King Louis XV in French film 'Jeanne du Barry' Accomplished if controversial actor Johnny Depp was last seen in court in a lawsuit against his ex-wife, now he's back in the movie "Jeanne du Barry." Johnny Depp is looking unrecognizable as he mounts a comeback after his yearslong court battles with ex-wife Amber Heard derailed his Hollywood career. Lionsgate shared a photo Monday of Depp in the upcoming movie "Day Drinker," and the actor, known for his flowing dark hair that fans often associate with his "Pirates of the Caribbean" character Jack Sparrow, has transformed. Depp, 61, looks grizzly in a grown-out graying beard and his hair pulled back into a bun. Variety first shared the news. The film, directed by Marc Webb of "500 Days of Summer" fame, has started production. The film will feature frequent collaborators Depp and Penélope Cruz, who have worked together on a trio of films. including "Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides." Madelyn Cline, a breakout actress in Netflix's "Outer Banks," also stars. "Day Drinker" follows a private-yacht bartender (Cline) who meets a mysterious guest (Depp), but the pair soon become connected with a "criminal figure" played by Cruz. Last year, Depp dipped his toes back into movie-making. In "Jeanne du Barry," he played 18th-century monarch France's King Louis XV in the French-language film, which premiered at the annual Cannes film festival. Former pirate Johnny Depp returns to the screen as King Louis XV. But will audiences care? Johnny Depp, Amber Heard trial exposed shocking claims of abuse The return followed an unflattering spotlight for the former industry titan, which was ignited by his 2022 defamation case against his ex-wife, actress and model Heard. Though a civil jury ultimately awarded Depp $10 million and Heard $2 million, the trial exposed shocking claims of mutual physical and emotional abuse. He also made a return to directing last January for the independent film "Modi," his first notable re-emergence to the film world in the last few years. Depp's career, initially turbocharged by his '80s TV series "21 Jump Street," has led to three best actor Oscar nominations (no wins) and an iconic role in the "Pirates" franchise.
