"Frustrated reaction of BJP": Congress MP Surjewala on reports of ED raids at several locations linked to G Parameshwara

New Delhi [India], May 21 (ANI): After media reports emerged about the Enforcement Directorate (ED) raids at several locations allegedly linked to Karnataka Home Minister G Parameshwara, Congress leader Randeep Surjewala on Wednesday termed the action a 'frustrated reaction' by the BJP-led central government. Surjewala linked the raids to the Karnataka government's recent decision to grant ownership rights to one lakh SC-ST families. In a social media post on X, Surjewala wrote, 'The ED raids on the Educational Institutions of Karnataka's Home Minister, Dr. G. Parameshwara, one of the tallest SC Leaders, is a frustrated reaction of BJP & Modi Govt to giving of ownership rights to 1 Lakh SC-ST families yesterday at Hospet.' The Congress leader termed this development as a 'constant assault' on the Constitution and leaders of SC-ST-OBC communities' across the country, adding that the 'revenge seeking against G Parameshwara is part of 'sinister design.' The social media post reads, 'The constant assault on Constitution and leaders of SC-ST-OBC communities across India has become a habitual pattern. The revenge seeking against @DrParameshwara is part of this sinister design. Dr. Parameshwara has run Siddhartha Institute of Technology, Tumkuru that was set up 46 tears ago in 1979 and Siddartha Medical College, Tumkuru was set up 28 years ago in 1988 in the rural hinterland of Tumkuru to light the lamp of education. It is indeed surprising that after 46 years of setting up of this institution, Modi Govt is searching for wrongdoing, while BJP's corruption is being actively investigated by the Home Ministry and Dr. G. Parameshwara.' Taking aim at the BJP, Surjewala said that the ED raids is 'desperate attempt to coverup the corruption of previous BJP governments.' 'The ED raids appear to be a desperate attempt to coverup the corruption of previous BJP Governments and stifle the voice of those who champion the voice of the oppressed. The @INCKarnataka will carry forward with the 5 Congress Guarantees undeterred and will follow up more rigorously the 6th Congress Guarantee of giving ownership of 1 Lakh houses to our brother and sisters of the SC-ST communities. Truth shall win. Satyamev Jayate,' Surjewala posted on X. Earlier today, denying the involvement of Home Minister G Parameshwara in any case, Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar said that the leader is a very 'decent' and 'simple' man. Speaking to media persons, Shivakumar said, 'I am sure that in no way my Home Minister is involved in any case. He is a very decent and simple man. No way G Parameshwara is involved in such a type of case.' (ANI)

Congress slams ED raids on Karnataka Home Minister, calls it BJP vendetta

Congress general secretary Jairam Ramesh condemned the raids by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) at a medical college in Tumakuru linked to Karnataka Home Minister G Parameshwara. The national party condemned the central agency's action and accused the BJP and Prime Minister Narendra Modi of using central agencies for political vendetta.'The INC condemns, in the strongest possible terms, the ED raids on the Home Minister of Karnataka. Dr G Parameshwara is one of the senior-most political leaders of the country who has made great contributions to the cause of education, particularly that of the weaker sections of society,' Ramesh said on social media platform X. advertisementAccording to sources, the ED raids at the Sri Siddhartha Institute of Medical Sciences and Research Centre in Tumakuru were part of the investigation into the money laundering case connected to actor Ranya Rao's alleged involvement in a gold smuggling racket. He added, 'The ED actions undertaken at the behest of the PM himself reflect the politics of harassment, vendetta, and intimidation of which he is the master. The BJP is clearly nervous and worried by the achievements of the Karnataka Govt over the past two years. We will not be silenced. We will continue to hold the PM to account for his multiple failures on multiple fronts.'Joining the attack, INC Karnataka in-charge Randeep Singh Surjewala also condemned the raids. 'The ED raids on the Educational Institutions of Karnataka's Home Minister, Dr G Parameshwara, one of the tallest Scheduled Caste (SC) Leaders, is a frustrated reaction of BJP and Modi Govt to giving of ownership rights to 1 Lakh SC-ST families yesterday at Hospet,' he posted on alleged that there was a pattern of targeting leaders from marginalised communities across the country. 'The constant assault on Constitution and leaders of SC-ST-Other Backward Classes (OBC) communities across India has become a habitual pattern. The revenge seeking against @DrParameshwara is part of this sinister design.'Referring to the history of the institution under scrutiny, Surjewala noted, 'Dr Parameshwara has run Siddhartha Institute of Technology, Tumkuru that was set up 46 years ago in 1979 and Siddhartha Medical College, Tumkuru was set up 28 years ago in 1988 in the rural hinterland of Tumkuru to light the lamp of education. It is indeed surprising that after 46 years of setting up of this institution, Modi Govt is searching for wrongdoing, while BJP's corruption is being actively investigated by the Home Ministry and Dr G Parameshwara.'Calling the action 'a desperate attempt to cover up the corruption of previous BJP governments and stifle the voice of those who champion the voice of the oppressed,' Surjewala said that the Congress will not back down.'The @INCKarnataka will carry forward with the 5 Congress Guarantees undeterred and will follow up more rigorously the 6th Congress Guarantee of giving ownership of 1 Lakh houses to our brothers and sisters of the SC-ST communities. Truth shall win. Satyamev Jayate,' he Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah said, 'Dr G Parameshwara is a prominent Dalit leader. This raid is an act of political vengeance. They have targeted him because he is a Dalit and a Congressman.'Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar, also rejected the reports and called them 'political gossip'.Parameshwara, who is listed as the Chairman of the institute, was reportedly not at home during the raids and was instead meeting associates at an undisclosed location. The ED's searches were triggered by financial links allegedly traced between Ranya Rao and the medical college, prompting the agency to examine the institution's financial records. The details of the money trail remain under scrutiny. IN THIS STORY#Karnataka
