Troopers focus on seatbelts with multi-state enforcement effort
(WKBN) – Troopers with the Ohio State Highway Patrol issued 2,631 citations for seat belt violations as part of an enforcement effort involving multiple jurisdictions. The numbers were released Friday by the Highway Patrol. As part of the '6-State Trooper Project,' another 83 citations were also issued relating to child safety seat violations. The eight-day initiative ran from Monday, May 19 through Monday, May 26. The following enforcement actions were taken locally: Columbiana – 27 safety belt violations and one child safety seat violation Mahoning – 57 safety belt violations and one child safety seat violation Trumbull – 58 safety belt violations and one child safety seat violation The campaign included the Indiana State Police, Kentucky State Police, Michigan State Police, Pennsylvania State Police and West Virginia State Police. DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) — The Ohio State Highway Patrol has released its results from participating in the 6-State Trooper Project. According to OSP, troopers issued 2,631 citations for safety belt violations from May 19 through 26. OSP troopers also reportedly issued 83 additional citations for alleged violations related to child safety seats. From May 19 to 26, troopers from the Ohio State Highway Patrol will be on the road to enforce safety belts. OSP is joining the state police departments of Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, Pennsylvania and West Virginia as a part of the 6-state trooper project. 'The 6-State Trooper Project is a multi-state law enforcement partnership aimed at providing combined and coordinated law enforcement and security services in the areas of highway safety, criminal patrol and information sharing,' said OSP.
