UUM raises nearly RM300,000 for UPSI students involved in Gerik crash
KUALA LUMPUR: Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM) has closed its emergency donation fund for victims of the recent bus crash involving Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris (UPSI) students, with the final amount collected totalling an impressive RM290,651.51.
The UUM Students' Representative Council said the amount was raised through contributions from 18,927 donors nationwide in a show of solidarity following the accident that claimed 15 lives.
"This overwhelming support reflects an extraordinary sense of unity during a time of grief and hardship," said the council in a Facebook post today.
It said the official handover of the funds would be announced at a later date, in accordance with the university's financial procedures and established protocols.
"Thank you to all Malaysians for your generosity. May this act of kindness bring blessings to us all," they said.
