Woman, 71, killed by train in east end

A 71-year-old woman has died after being struck by a passenger train in the city's east end.
Emergency services responded to a call around 4 p.m. near Lauzon Parkway, between Catherine Street and Lauzon Line.
According to police, preliminary investigations suggest the woman was attempting to cross the train tracks when she was hit by the train — she was pronounced dead at the scene.
The area was closed to traffic for several hours while authorities investigated.
