Celtic title party to clash with Orange Walk in Glasgow
The Green Brigade have revealed their intentions to storm Glasgow city centre this weekend, as Celtic faithfuls gear up to revel in clinching another championship glory. This Saturday, a sea of Hoops fans are set to swarm the Merchant City and Trongate districts, coinciding with the day that Brendan Rodgers' side will hoist the Scottish Premiership silverware aloft. With the season's curtain closer against St Mirren at Parkhead slated for a 12:30pm start, the expectation is for throngs of footie enthusiasts to congregate for some booze-fuelled celebrations. Via social media platform X, North Curve Celtic announced: "Trongate Title Party. Saturday 17 May. After Celtic v St. Mirren." But fears are mounting over possible clashes, considering nearly 2,500 Loyalists are due for an Orange Walk procession that very afternoon, celebrating the 80th VE Day anniversary—a schedule set prior to the confirmation of the Celts' trophy presentation date, reports the Daily Record. Worries are rife that unrest may spark due to revellers being a mere 500 yards from the parade's trajectory. A representative for the Merchant City Community Council voiced local apprehensions: "Residents and businesses around Glasgow Cross are already concerned about serious disruption following the Celtic v St Mirren match. "Police are likely to have their hands full just dealing with that. The presence of tens of thousands of Celtic and Orange Lodge supporters in the city on the same day is an unwelcome and possibly inflammatory mix. "We call on the city council and the County Grand Lodge to get together to arrange for the parade to take place on a different date." Amidst the chaos that ensued last year, where 19 people were arrested and four officers sustained injuries as crowds caused havoc setting off flares, clambering over streetlights and shelters, along with wrecking storefronts and urban fixtures, Police Scotland has voiced their approach. A representative from Police Scotland stated: "We work closely with a range of partners to address concerns and ensure appropriate policing plans are in place to maintain public safety and minimise any disruption to the wider community."

Prince Louis Steals the Spotlight From Harry at VE Day Event
Prince Louis stole the show in London Monday at an event commemorating the defeat of the Nazis, as Britain's royals sought to erase all thoughts of troublesome exile Prince Harry. The 7-year-old Prince Louis, who has a reputation for alleviating the solemnity of official events by pulling funny faces, was on hand to keep the crowds entertained from the stands and later the Buckingham Palace balcony. He ducked, pointed, and waved at the crowds as the British aerobatic team, the Red Arrows, painted the gray London skies red, white, and blue to mark the day. Earlier, he had helped his father, Prince William, stay smart by giving his uniform a quick brush down during the 80th anniversary of Victory in Europe Day, which marks the fall of Berlin in 1945. The young royal joined his future king father, 43, and his siblings George and Charlotte at the palace ahead of the marquee event kicking off four days of celebrations for the 80th VE Day. Prince Harry, one of the few living royals to have seen active military service, was not invited to the event. He gave a scathing interview about his family to the BBC on Friday and the palace had briefed they didn't want his intervention to 'distract' from today's celebrations. Seated beside his father, who was dressed in full military regalia, Louis was seen cheekily brushing down the shoulder of William's jacket—an endearing moment that didn't go unnoticed by news cameras. Senior royals joined thousands of members of the public, watching a military procession through the streets of London. Kate arrived with Charlotte and Louis, while King Charles and Queen Camilla followed shortly after, waving to the cheering crowds from their vehicle before joining the rest of the family. Palace sources had briefed the media that they didn't want any Harry-shaped distractions from the long-planned event, which included a Royal Air Force flypast and balcony appearance by palace big guns alongside Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis, and British news organizations, in general, tactfully complied. The young royals were surprise, last-minute attendees. It was their first official joint appearance since Christmas. Thousands of Britons descended on the Mall and Buckingham Palace, in a recreation of the iconic scenes of May 1945, when jubilant crowds thronged the streets of London. Among the cheering masses back then were two young princesses: Margaret and her sister Elizabeth, later the queen, who slipped out of the palace to join the crowd and experience the jubilation.

UK government confirms Liberation Day plans
The UK government has confirmed plans to mark Liberation Day as part of its VE Day commemorations. It will include a special reception in Parliament and a visit to Jersey and Sark by Minister for Sport, Media, Civil Society and Youth, Stephanie Peacock. Flags from the Channel Islands will also be flown from the Ministry of Justice and in Parliament Square. It comes after Conservative MP Andrew Rosindell raised the lack of published plans to include the Channel Islands in Parliament. Events will begin with a special reception in Parliament on 6 May. It will be hosted by the Speaker of the House of Commons, Sir Lindsay Hoyle, on behalf of the governments of Jersey and Guernsey, with UK ministers expected to attend. Peacock will then travel to Jersey and Sark on 9 and 10 May to participate in the Liberation celebrations. She will be joined by Lord Ponsonby of Shulbrede, the Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State in the Ministry of Justice, who has responsibility for the UK's constitutional relationship with the Channel Islands. Flags of all the Crown Dependencies will be flown from the top of the Ministry of Justice building and in Parliament Square. Prince Andrew avoids public appearances after Virginia Giuffre death
The Duke of York, who was accused of seriously sexually assaulting Ms Giuffre in the early 2000s, has kept a low profile following the announcement of her death by suicide last Friday. Prince Andrew has always denied the allegations regarding his behaviour towards Ms Giuffre. READ MORE: Prince Andrew: 72 per cent of Scots want royal stripped of Inverness title The royal missed his 'regular Saturday morning horse ride' as the news broke this weekend, and was briefly spotted with ex-wife Sarah Ferguson on Sunday before returning to his Royal Lodge mansion. The royal outcast will no longer attend next weekend's 80th VE Day commemorations alongside the rest of the family despite joining them publicly for Easter Sunday celebrations. Ms Giuffre first publicly accused the prince of abuse in 2019, an allegation Andrew and the rest of the royal family still vehemently denies, and later filed a lawsuit which was settled out of court in 2022. She claimed she was trafficked to him by paedophile financier Jeffrey Epstein when she was 17, and that three occasions of sexual abuse took place across London, New York and the Caribbean. Following the settlement, the prince promised in a statement he'd 'demonstrate his regret for his association' with Epstein by supporting organisations targeting the 'evils of sex trafficking,' including the late Ms Giuffre's organisation SOAR, though there have never been any reports of Andrew doing so other than the undisclosed sum paid obligatorily to Giuffre. READ MORE: Prince Andrew settlement cost: Here's what else the cash could have paid for Epstein's accomplice, Ghislaine Maxwell, reportedly instructed Ms Giuffre to 'do for him [Prince Andrew] what you do for Jeffrey' following the pair's initial meeting at London's Club Tramp, where then-17-year-old Giuffre was allegedly plied with alcohol. Maxwell was sentenced to 20 years' imprisonment in 2022 for her role in facilitating Epstein's trafficking and abuse ring, whilst Epstein died by suicide in a jail cell in 2019. According to The Sun, insiders believe Andrew was plotting a return to royal life which no longer looks viable, given his silence on Giuffre's suicide and inability to prove her as an unreliable witness.
