HH Shaikh Isa Bin Ali Arrives in China for Asian Winter Games Opening
Harbin: His Highness Shaikh Isa bin Ali Al Khalifa, Vice President of the Bahrain Olympic Committee and Vice President of the Olympic Council of Asia for the 3rd Asian Youth Games, has arrived in Harbin, China, to attend the opening ceremony of the 8th Asian Winter Games. The event will feature approximately 1,275 athletes representing 34 countries.
According to Bahrain News Agency, HH Shaikh Isa bin Ali expressed his pride in being present at the event, which is organised under the supervision of the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA). His Highness emphasized the importance of such sporting events in fostering connections among athletes throughout Asia.
HH Shaikh Isa bin Ali also noted Bahrain's return to the Asian Winter Games, with the national ice hockey team participating following the country's debut at the Astana 2011 edition in Kazakhstan. This participation is seen as a testament to the Bahrain Olympic Committee's dedication, under the leadership of HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, to support various sports, including winter sports, and to ensure Bahrain's active involvement in international competitions.
His Highness praised China's facilities and preparations for the event, extending his best wishes for success to all participating nations, with a special mention of the Arab countries.
