Thunderbirds lose to Bruins in OT, Game 3 on Sunday
SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – The Springfield Thunderbirds will have to wait until Sunday to try and advance to the second round of the Calder Cup playoffs.
They faced off against the Providence Bruins for game 2 at the MassMutual Center Friday night. The Bruins scored in overtime to win 1-0.
The Thunderbirds began their quest for the 8th Calder Cup championship on Wednesday ..in which they got a win. 22News caught up with fans who are eager to see the T-Birds win it all. Al Giguere from Westfield told 22News, 'My whole family's here. I got some friends here, a lot of friends. Big T-Birds fan. I can't wait to see these guys beat the Bruins again here at the Thunderdome and go T-Birds!'
The T-Birds will try and advance to the Atlantic Division semifinals next week. Game 3 is Sunday, March 27, at 3:05 in Providence.
