Juvenile among 3 held as cops bust Babbar Khalsa module
MOHALI: A 17-year-old boy is among three persons arrested in Amritsar after Punjab Police busted a terror module run by the banned Babbar Khalsa International (BKI) and backed by Pakistan's ISI, said Punjab DGP Gaurav Yadav on Friday, reports Barinderjit Saluja. Two hand grenades, a 9MM Glock pistol, and live cartridges were recovered from the trio. The state special operation cell of Punjab Police busted the module, which intended to carry out targeted killings and attacks on police assets in Amritsar. Sehajpal Singh and Vikramjit Singh are the adults arrested. The juvenile has been detained and will be dealt with as per juvenile justice provisions. Yadav said the module was operated by Nishan Singh , a UK-based handler, under direction of designated terrorist Harwinder Singh Rinda. "Recovery of high-grade explosives and a sophisticated firearm indicates a major tragedy was averted," he said. During interrogation, Sehajpal said he was working under the directions of Lovepreet Singh, a BKI associate lodged in Ferozepur jail.

Punjab: Pak-backed BKI terror module busted, one held with 6 pistols
Jun 22, 2025 07:26 AM IST Amritsar commissionerate police on Saturday dismantled a Pakistan-backed Babbar Khalsa International (BKI) terror module operated by UK-based handler Dharam Singh alias Dharma Sandhu. The weapons, smuggled via drones from across the border include four 9MM Glock pistols and two .30-bore PX5 pistols. (HT) Police have arrested a local operative of the module and recovered six foreign-made pistols from his possession, director general of police Gaurav Yadav said. The arrested accused has been identified as Onkar Singh alias Nawab, a resident of Jalalusma village in Amritsar. The weapons, smuggled via drones from across the border include four 9MM Glock pistols and two .30-bore PX5 pistols. The DGP said foreign-based handler Dharam Singh, who has been operating the terror module, is a close associate of Pak-based terrorist Harvinder Singh alias Rinda. Further investigations are underway to establish forward and backward linkages in this case and unearth the broader network, he said. Sharing operation details, Amritsar commissioner of police (CP) Gurpreet Singh Bhullar said the arrest followed precise intelligence and coordination. 'The accused disclosed during interrogation that the weapons were delivered via drones and were meant for disruptive activities,' he added. He said preliminary investigations revealed the accused was part of a sleeper cell activated by foreign-based handlers to destabilise the state. 'The weapons were to be distributed among local operatives to execute targeted killings and terror activities in the state. We are working to uncover the entire network and its international linkages,' Bhullar said, adding that further investigations are underway to identify other accomplices and handlers. A case under the Arms Act has been registered at Maqboolpura police station in Amritsar.

Cross-border arms smuggling racket busted in Amritsar, 2 held with weapons
The Amritsar counter-intelligence (CI) has busted a cross-border illegal arms smuggling module and arrested two of its operatives, said Punjab director general of police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav on Friday. Those arrested have been identified as Sukhchain Singh, a resident of Daoke in Amritsar and Jugraj Singh, a resident of Bhakna Kalan village in Amritsar. 'Police teams have also recovered eight sophisticated pistols— three 9MM Glock, four Px5, and one .30 bore pistol— from their possession, besides, impounding their black motorcycle being used for transporting the consignments,' the DGP said. Yadav said that preliminary investigations have revealed that the accused were acting under the directions of a Pakistan-based smuggler identified as Noor, a resident of Manihala in Pakistan, who has been using drones to drop weapon consignments from across the border. The arrested accused were further distributing the arms to gangsters across Punjab with the intention to fuel criminal activities in the state, he said. Sharing operation details, the DGP said that CI-Amritsar received specific intelligence about the retrieval of a weapon consignment from near Bhaini Rajputtan village in the jurisdiction of Gharinda in Amritsar. 'Acting swiftly, police teams have intercepted duo on Amritsar-Attari GT Road near Khasa in Amritsar, when they were going to deliver the consignment on their motorcycle, and recovered weapons from their possession, he said, adding that further investigations are underway to uncover the network's backwards and forward linkages. A case under Sections 25, 25(1)(A) and 25(1)(B) of the Arms Act and Section 61(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) has been registered at Police Station SSOC, Amritsar.

Cross-border weapon smuggling module busted in Punjab, 2 held
Punjab Police on Thursday unearthed a cross-border weapon smuggling module with the arrest of two persons. Six sophisticated weapons, including Glock pistols, have also been recovered from them. The accused have been identified as Surajpal Singh and Arshdeep Singh, residents of Tarn Taran, director general of police Gaurav Yadav said. 'Acting on a tip-off, @TarnTaranPolice busts a cross-border weapon smuggling module with links to #Pakistan and arrests, Surajpal Singh and Arshdeep Singh from Lakhna village, and recovers six sophisticated weapons,' Yadav said in a post on X. 'Recovery: Two sophisticated PX5 .30 pistols and Four 9MM Glock pistols with live cartridges,' he said. A case has been registered, the DGP said, adding investigation is underway to identify backward and forward linkages.
