Jim was one of the most beloved members of the Orioles, and the MLB community as he was one of the most dedicated writers of baseball. When did Jim Henneman pass away The Baltimore Orioles released an official statement on May 23, 2025, stating that Jim Henneman is no more. Jim was 89 when he passed away. He had been an integral part of the Orioles team, keeping them at par with his score-keeping abilities. Jim was the official scorekeeper for the Orioles for 23 years, after which he turned into a sportswriter for the club. His ability to maintain the true score helped the Orioles remain in the game and reach playoffs without much hassle. What were Jim Henneman's achievements Jim Henneman was the former President of the Baseball Writers' Association of America in 1984. He began his sports-writing career with the Baltimore News American, covering the Orioles' news and scores, after which he moved on to write in the Evening Sun and the Baltimore Sun from 1980 to 1985. He was also the official scorekeeper of the Orioles from 1997 to 2019. Apart from that, Jim Henneman published his book 'Baltimore Orioles: 60 Years of Orioles Magic' in 2015, which takes the reader through Henneman's initial days in the Baltimore Orioles, and his journey from thereon.
