First look inside Mercy House's expansion project
ENDICOTT, N.Y. (WIVT/WBGH) – We have an exclusive first look inside the over $2 million expansion project at Mercy House in Endicott.
The Mercy House of the Southern Tier is just a few weeks away from completing its $2.1 million addition, adding six new resident rooms, private bathrooms, and space for laundry and staff.
Crews broke ground in October, and plan to officially open sometime next month or early June. The new wing is being built where the parking lot used to be.
The executive director, Linda Cerra says, the founder of Mercy House, Father Clarence Rumble, has dreamed of expanding since opening nine years ago.
'We're standing here in room eleven. We're adding six new rooms. Each room will have its own bathroom and we're super excited, it's becoming a reality. Again, for Father Clarence. Adding onto his vision from nine, ten years ago now,' said Cerra.
Cerra says the project is 75% fully funded, but you can still donate through the website,
She says two of the organization's biggest fundraisers are coming up, and both of them are sold out.
