All set for Gangamma Jathara in Tirupati
Arrangements have been made for Tataiahgunta Gangamma Jathara, scheduled to begin from May 6 and conclude with Ammavari Viswaroopa Darshanam on May 14. The week-long annual festival will be held by Tirupati Municipal Corporation (TMC) and Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam (TTD).
Speaking to The Hindu, Tataiahgunta Gangamma Temple Executive Officer A. Jaya Kumar said around 80,000 devotees are expected to visit the temple during the Jathara.
Tirupati MLA Arani Srinivasulu has directed the officials of the TMC as well as police and revenue departments to ensure that the devotees face no difficulties in queues. The TMC Commissioner also asked the staff to maintain cleanliness both inside and outside the temple.
Tirupati District Superintendent of Police V. Harshavardhan Raju ordered the Police Command Control to tighten security at the temple and said the number of police personnel deployed should be proportional to that of devotees coming to the Jathara.
Mr. Harshavardhan Raju said: 'The police teams should perform their assigned duties properly, and they should also be polite to the people. On May 12 and 13, traffic diversions must be carried out to free the temple routes.'
