Moose Knuckles names new CEO
Canadian luxury outerwear brand Moose Knuckles announced on Monday the appointment of Ellen Kinney to the role of chief executive officer, effective immediately. In her new role, Kinney will be based in the company's headquarters in Montréal. She will oversee brand operations, product development, and international expansion as the company continues to accelerate across North America, Europe, and Asia. A fashion veteran with more than two decades of industry experience, Kinney joins Moose Knuckles following her time as president and CEO of A.L.C. Prior to A.L.C., the executive served as CEO of Kendall + Kylie, and as EVP and chief merchant at Derek Lam International, and as well as holding down posts at Rebecca Taylor, and Scoop, among others. 'Ellen is a dynamic and proven leader with exceptional merchandising instincts and a deep understanding of premium consumer brands,' added Victor Luis, Chairman of Moose Knuckles. 'Her ability to blend creativity with commercial strategy makes her the ideal CEO to lead Moose Knuckles through this continued phase of growth.' Private equity firm Cathay Capital acquired a stake in Moose Knuckles in 2019, becoming its majority investor, only to be joined by Bosideng, China's biggest retailer and manufacturer of down coats, which acquired a minority stake last year. 'Since Cathay Capital partnered with Moose Knuckles, the brand has leveraged its status as a bold Canadian icon to become a truly global name, embraced by consumers who prize multicultural spirit, bold attitude, distinctive style, and exceptional craftsmanship,' added Jean-Marc Prunet, partner at Cathay Capital. 'Ellen combines exceptional creative talent with a sharp understanding of today's consumer, enabling her to make the brand even more desirable and culturally relevant. Her proven ability to scale premium fashion houses while honoring their DNA makes her the ideal leader to accelerate our geographic and consumer expansion.' Today, Moose Knuckles boasts a retail presence across 30 countries, with 36 stores in North America, Europe, and China, and distribution through luxury retailers such as Harrods, Selfridges, Saks Fifth Avenue, and Holt Renfrew.
