ABB India Q4 results: Profit rises 3% to ₹474 crore on higher revenues

According to the statement, the company achieved a revenue of Rs 3,160 crore for the first quarter (January-March 2025) which is higher than Rs 3,080 crore in the same period a year ago Press Trust of India New Delhi Electrification and automation major ABB India on Friday posted a 3 per cent rise in net profit to Rs 474 crore during the March quarter compared to the year-ago period, primarily on the back of higher revenues. The company follows January-December financial year. "The company reported profit after tax of Rs 474 crore at the end of Q1 CY2025 (January-March 2025) as compared to Rs 460 crore in Q1 CY2024," a company statement said. According to the statement, the company achieved a revenue of Rs 3,160 crore for the first quarter (January-March 2025) which is higher than Rs 3,080 crore in the same period a year ago. The company's cash position continues to remain robust at Rs 5,756 crore at the end of Q1 2025. "In our 75th year of manufacturing in India, I am proud of the solid start to 2025. We continue to enjoy trust of our customers and partners, who are served impactfully by the ABB India team. In an increasingly uncertain global market, ABB India stands steady posting consistent growth across all key financial parameters for the past several quarters, including Jan-Mar quarter CY2025," said Sanjeev Sharma, Country head and Managing Director, ABB India. Total orders were at Rs 3,751 crore for Q1 CY2025 (up from Rs 3,607 crore in January-March 2024) led by base orders and complemented by large ones. Continued customer support and enhanced market activity from the fourth quarter, led to the significant rise in orders in the first quarter, it stated. In Q1 CY2024, there were one-time large orders for data centres and public sector energy and electricity companies. The market segments for order momentum include electronics, railways, data centers, energy, metals and mining and building and infrastructure. ABB India continues to have a strong executable order backlog as of March 31, 2025, at Rs 9,958 crore (up from Rs 8,935 crore year ago), which provides revenue visibility and is well aligned to support growth plans in the coming quarters.

May 9 (Reuters) - Engineering services firm ABB India ( opens new tab reported a 3.3% rise in first-quarter profit on Friday, driven by steady demand for products in its electrification and motion segments. Profit at the Indian arm of Switzerland's ABB (ABBN.S), opens new tab rose to 4.75 billion rupees ($55.63 million) in the three months ended March 31, from 4.59 billion rupees a year ago. Capital goods companies benefited from increased orders in the reported quarter from sectors such as power generation, transmission and distribution, and defense, analysts said. Execution of backlog orders is also expected to drive revenue growth in the quarter, they said. ABB India received orders worth 37.51 billion rupees during the quarter, up 4% from a year earlier. Revenue from ABB India's electrification segment, which makes products such as solar inverters and wiring accessories, rose 4.7%. The segment contributes about 43% to the total revenue. The company's motion segment, which makes electrical motors and generators and contributes 34% of total revenue, logged a revenue growth of 8.2%. The company's overall quarterly revenue rose 2.6% to 31.6 billion rupees. Last month, parent ABB (ABBN.S), opens new tab reported a better-than-expected first-quarter profit. May 9 (Reuters) - India's Thermax ( opens new tab reported fourth-quarter profit below expectations on Friday, hurt by weak demand for its industrial machines and higher raw material costs. Capital goods companies, which depend heavily on government orders, have seen a slowdown in such inflows in recent quarters. Analysts say government capex remained subdued across most segments in the reporting quarter as well. Thermax's order booking dropped 8% to 21.19 billion rupees and a spike in raw materials costs pushed up the company's expenses by 11%. The industrial machine maker's consolidated net profit rose 8% to 2.06 billion rupees ($24 million)in the quarter ended March 31, from 1.9 billion rupees a year ago. Analysts had expected a profit of 2.08 billion rupees, as per data compiled by LSEG. Thermax's revenue grew about 12% to 30.85 billion rupees for the March-quarter, below analysts' expectation of 31.22 billion rupees. Revenue from Thermax's industrial products segment grew 18.5%, while that from division that sets up bio-CNG and power plants rose 4%. The quarterly results were affected by 660 million rupees cost related to the company's bio-CNG projects, it said in a statement.
