Media Prima, ACCA seal strategic talent development partnership
KUALA LUMPUR: Media Prima Bhd has entered into a strategic partnership with the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA), marking a significant milestone in the former's drive to enhance professional development within its finance and accountancy teams.
With this collaboration, Media Prima has officially become an ACCA Approved Employer, a designation that recognises organisations committed to supporting ACCA members and students through high standards of learning and development.
Media Prima Group chief financial officer Rosli Sabarudin said the partnership reflects the company's commitment to building a future-ready workforce by investing in its people.
"We are immensely proud to embark on this strategic partnership with ACCA and achieve the ACCA Approved Employer status. This initiative directly reflects our commitment to investing in the backbone of our financial operations, our people.
"By equipping our finance and accountancy professionals with premier training, globally recognised qualifications, and continuous development pathways, we are not only elevating their career trajectories but also significantly enhancing the capabilities and strategic effectiveness of Media Prima's finance function."
Rosli added that the partnership would support the group's long-term resilience and its pursuit of sustainable growth in a rapidly evolving media landscape.
"The collaboration will also open doors to ACCA's global network and industry insights.
"ACCA Approved Employers certification is a big recognition which took us 10 years to fulfilled all the requirements because they are of international standards.
"Meeting the requirements set by ACCA was in fact a daunting task. I nearly gave up after starting in 2015 but now in terms of governance, we proudly stand on par with globally-accredited companies," he said during a simple certificate handover ceremony at Balai Berita here.
He added that now the challenge was to sustain the accreditation years to come.
He said this new milestone will also reassure Media Prima stakeholder and investors faith in the company brand.
Meanwhile, ACCA Maritime Southeast Asia employer relationships lead Hishamuddin Jalil said he was pleased to welcomed Media Prima into the ACCA Approved Employer community.
"This partnership underscores our shared commitment to building future-ready finance capabilities and raising professional standards in Malaysia.

The ACCA Approved Employer programme is acknowledged globally for recognising employers that demonstrate strong commitment to developing the next generation of finance professionals.

Hishamuddin said this strategic partnership will give both parties an opportunity to leverage on each other's expertise.
With this accreditation and partnership, Media Prima employees will also be able to develop their knowledge by taking up programmes organised by ACCA.
Employees would also have access to resources and guidance to achieve their ACCA qualifications and maintain their professional competence.
These ACCA programmes are also Human Resources Development Corporation claimable.
ACCA is a globally-recognised accountancy body supporting more than 252,500 members and 526,000 future members across 180 countries.
Its qualifications are highly regarded by employers worldwide, equipping finance professionals with business acumen and ethical judgment to drive sustainable value.
ACCA currently has 351 Approved Employers in Malaysia and almost 8,000 globally.
