Tragic highway crash claims young motorcyclist's life
KULAI: A motorcyclist was killed instantly on the highway here after crashing into a bus parked in the emergency lane due to engine trouble.
Kulai OCPD Asst Comm Tan Seng Lee stated that police received information at around 1.50pm regarding the incident which occurred at KM18.3 of the North-South Expressway (northbound).
'Preliminary investigations revealed that a bus driven by a 38-year-old man had been parked in the emergency lane due to engine problems.
'A motorcycle ridden by a 21-year-old man then failed to notice the stationary bus by the roadside and crashed into its rear,' he said in a statement.
He added that the motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene after suffering major head injuries.
'The victim's body was sent to Temenggong Seri Maharaja Tun Ibrahim Hospital for a post-mortem procedure.
'This case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987,' he said.
