Kolkata: Indian men's senior national football team head coach Manolo Marquez confirmed that all 28 players participating in the ongoing camp in Kolkata will travel to Thailand for the FIFA friendly against the hosts, scheduled for June 4. Indian team had been training in the City of Joy since May 19. The contingent will leave for Thailand on Wednesday evening. The friendly match between India and Thailand will take place on June 4 at the Thammasat Stadium in Pathum Thani at 18:00 IST. Subsequently, India will depart for Hong Kong on June 5 for the all-important AFC Asian Cup 2027 Qualifiers Final Round fixture against the East Asian side on June 10 at 17:30 IST. In Kolkata, Marquez's men underwent six full days of training, with gym sessions in the mornings and on-pitch training in the evenings. They played two practice matches on May 26 and 27. On Monday, they won 2-1 against Santosh Trophy Champions Bengal, with Brandon Fernandes and Ashique Kuruniyan finding the net. Indian men's football team to face better-ranked Thailand ahead of AFC Asian Cup 2027 Qualifiers
Team India (@IndianFootball on X) NEW DELHI: The Indian national men's football team is set to play a friendly match against Thailand, a team ranked higher in FIFA standings, at Thammasat Stadium on June 4, as confirmed by the AIFF on Wednesday. This match forms part of India's preparation for their AFC Asian Cup 2027 Qualifiers Final Round fixture against Hong Kong-China on June 10. The FIFA Rankings place India at 127th position, whilst Thailand hold the 99th spot. In their previous 26 encounters, Thailand's Changsuek have secured 12 victories compared to India's seven wins, with seven matches ending in draws. The Indian squad will commence their preparation with a training camp in Kolkata from May 18, before travelling to Thailand by May 29. Following the friendly match, the team will proceed to Hong Kong for acclimatisation and training ahead of their Asian Cup qualification match. The other teams in Group C comprise Bangladesh and Singapore. Currently, all teams in the group have accumulated one point each, following India's scoreless draw with Bangladesh in Shillong and a similar result between Singapore and Hong Kong in Singapore on March 25.

The 'Blue Tigers' are currently competing in the AFC Asian Cup 2027 Qualifiers Final Round. The international friendly, to be held at Thammasat Stadium, will be a part of the team's preparation for its qualification match against Hong Kong-China on June 10. India are ranked 127th in the FIFA Rankings, while Thailand are 99th. India and Thailand have faced each other 26 times. While the Blue Tigers have won seven matches, the Changsuek have tasted victory on 12 occasions. The remaining seven matches ended in draws. India's preparatory camp will begin in Kolkata on May 18 and the team will leave for Thailand by May 29. The Blue Tigers will subsequently depart for Hong Kong after the friendly against Thailand to acclimatise and train for their Asian Cup qualifier. Bangladesh and Singapore are the other two teams in Group C. All four sides are currently locked on one point apiece. India and Bangladesh had played a goalless draw in Shillong while Singapore and Hong Kong also drew their game in Singapore on March 25.
