Raiders P AJ Cole had the most AJ Cole big ticket purchase upon signing his new deal
Raiders P AJ Cole had the most AJ Cole big ticket purchase upon signing his new deal Anyone who has spoken to AJ Cole or watched one of his press conferences knows he's a character. The good kind. Not the weird wear-a-power-rangers-mask-to-training-camp, or punt-bags-of-pasta-at-the-grocery-store kind of character. He's just a funny, good natured dude. He also happens to be the best punter in the NFL. And this week he was rewarded by the Raiders for it when they made him the NFL's highest paid punter on a four-year extension. Most players when getting a big new contract will treat themselves to a big ticket item of some kind. Cole is no different. Although his choice of big ticket item may be quite a bit different. And it's so him. "All of my plants died, so we just re-landscaped our yard," Cole said of his big spend. "So, shout out to Antonio, Moon Valley Nurseries. So, I'm really excited, pretty excited that I get to stay here and watch those plants grow up. Because I don't know if you guys have bought plants before, but they're really, really expensive. And so, yeah, that was the big-ticket purchase, a couple of new queen palm trees in the backyard and a couple sweet Bay laurels on the side." He's just so wholesome it's ridiculous. The Raiders are very lucky to have him. Both for his on-field prowess and his off-field character.

Raiders officially announce a multi-year extension with All Pro punter AJ Cole
Raiders officially announce a multi-year extension with All Pro punter AJ Cole It's official. Raiders will hold onto their latest elite punter for a long time to come. Wednesday the team officially announced they have signed punter AJ Cole to a multi-year extension. The deal is a reported four-year contract which makes Cole the NFL's highest paid punter. The deal is well-deserved as Cole has proven himself to be the NFL's best punter over the past four seasons. It's been an impressive rise for the former undrafted free agent tryout player. That's right, he didn't just go undrafted. He had to try out for the team in rookie minicamp back in 2019 to earn a contract. From there he's gone on to be twice named AP First Team All-Pro (2021, 2023) and head to three straight Pro Bowls (2021-23). Cole has topped the NFL in several areas since he joined the league in 2019 including his 48.6 yards per punt and 44.7% of his punts inside the 20-yard line. His 50.8 yards per punt average last season is tied for the second-best in Raiders history (min. 50 punts) and the fifth highest single-season average in NFL history. No franchise in football has had more great punters than the Raiders. Starting with Ray Guy who is the only ever full time punter to be inducted into the Hall of Fame and continuing with Shane Lechler who has the best shot at becoming the second ever punter in Canton. Between Lechler and Cole, the Raiders have absolutely dominated the punting game in the NFL this milennium. Expect this stat to hold at least until 2030 with Cole's extension keeping him in Silver & Black until 2029. With the Raiders having signed AJ Cole to an extension, who could be next to get an extension in Las Vegas?

Raiders make AJ Cole highest-paid punter with $15.8M, 4-year extension, AP source says
Associated Press Two-time All-Pro AJ Cole agreed to a four-year, $15.8 million extension with the Las Vegas Raiders on Monday that makes him the highest-paid punter in football. A person familiar with the deal said it includes $11 million in guaranteed money and his incentives that could increase the value of the deal. Cole had one year remaining on his contract that was set to pay him $3.3 million in base salary this season before reaching an extension to keep him under contract through the 2029 season. Cole originally signed with the Raiders as an undrafted free agent in 2019 and has been one of the top punters in the game ever since. He was a first-team All-Pro and Pro Bowler in both 2021 and 2023 and also made the Pro Bowl in 2022,as well. Since entering the league, Cole ranks first among the 31 punters with at least 175 punts with 44.9% of his punts being downed inside the 20. He also ranks third in gross punting average (48.6 yards) and eighth in net average (42.1 yards). Cole has averaged at least 50 yards per punt in three of the last four seasons, tied with Ryan Stenhouse for the most seasons ever with an average of 50 yards per punt. ___ AP NFL: recommended
