Volunteer Program Director for the Kelly Miller Community Center Sherri James told 12 News why the event is so important.
'We think that it's important to make sure that kids understand what happened in the past so that as they grow and become adult humans that they understand that we are all equal and that we should all work together,' James said. 'It's not just about one race, we're all a human race.'
James shared that engaging children in fun and exciting crafts and activities while teaching them about Black history is a meaningful way to celebrate Black History Month and highlight its importance.
'Check out the Clarksburg Harrison Public Library website, there are always fun educational things to do, and all of our stuff is free.' the Children's Librarian at the Clarksburg Harrison Public Library Erica Perry said.
