Khan Sir reacts to criticism over wife's ghoonghat at wedding reception
Patna-based educator Faizal Khan, popularly known as Khan Sir, has addressed the controversy over his wife's appearance in a ghoonghat (veil) during their wedding reception held in Patna on June and videos from the event, where Khan Sir formally introduced his wife AS Khan to close friends and guests, sparked criticism on social media with many questioning the symbolism of the the reception, AS Khan appeared with her face covered by a traditional veil, triggering a heated debate as social media users accused Khan Sir of endorsing regressive practices.
Speaking about the controversy on a podcast with news agency ANI, Khan Sir said that it was his wife's decision to wear a ghoonghat at the reception.'My wife decided to wear the ghoonghat at the reception. She said it was her childhood dream and that every girl dreams of becoming a bride with a ghoonghat. She said that a ghoonghat gives a bride a unique identity,' Khan Sir told Khan Sir revealed that he had warned his wife about the likely criticism. 'I told her that people will blame me for it, but she insisted that it has been her childhood dream.
