‘Protect our national interests': Albanese resists pressure to boost defence spending
ANU National Security College's Jennifer Parker says the Australian government must address defence spending to 'protect our national interests'.
'Australia could do that to be politically creative, and it might take some of the pressure off us,' Ms Parker told Sky News Australia.
'I think we've got to think about why do we need to increase defence spending, and it's not just because our allies are requesting it, it's actually because we don't have the capabilities that we need to protect our national interest.
'We must address defence spending to address our own national interest.'
