Andhra Pradesh govt. taking steps to rescue Telugu people stranded in flood-hit Sikkim

The Andhra Pradesh government is taking steps to rescue the Telugu people stranded at Lachung in Sikkim under the guidance of Union Minister of Civil Aviation K. Rammohan Naidu in view of the prevailing situation caused by massive flooding and landslides. According to an official release, action has been taken to evacuate the affected families, including Vizianagaram tahsildar Kurmanadha Rao and his family, who were trapped for the last three days. The family comprises M. Uma (38), Deekshitha (15), and Jayansh Narayana (6). Following directions from M. Ravi Chandra, Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister, an AP Bhavan team kept in touch with Ananth, Collector, and Superintendent of Police of Chungtan Arun Tatal in Mangan district, and other local authorities for assistance. Additionally, Sridhara Rao, DGP of Sikkim, has been playing a vital role in facilitating help for the stranded families. Currently, access roads to the flooded areas are blocked due to landslides. Restoration efforts are expected to be completed by June 2. All individuals are reported to be safe, and the AP Bhavan is taking every precaution to facilitate their safe return.

441 students from Andhra Pradesh reach New Delhi after the outbreak of India-Pakistan conflict

Four hundred and forty one students of Andhra Pradesh have reached New Delhi safely from Punjab, Jammu & Kashmir, Rajasthan, and Gujarat in the wake of India-Pakistan conflict 'due to proactive steps' taken by Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, according to an official release. The government has worked round-the-clock to bring its students back safely from the States that faced the threat of attacks post-Operation Sindoor and provided them food and shelter. Of the 441 students, 158 have returned to their hometowns and the remaining 283 students are currently staying at AP Bhavan in the national capital. The students are from the National Institute of Technology in Srinagar, Lovely Professional University in Punjab, Sher-e-Kashmir University, and 10 from Iamrin Tech Skill University in Punjab.

Vijayawada: The State government on Thursday appointed Dr Arja Srikanth, a retired IRTS officer of 1986 batch as the Special Commissioner, AP Bhavan, New Delhi, for a period of two years. He earlier worked in AP on deputation and held different positions. Arja Srikanth is the native of Pedakallepalli village of Krishna district and was elected for IRTS. He earlier worked as the Director of Andhra Pradesh cultural department, Managing Director of AP Skill Development Corporation. He worked as AP Nodal officer in the state during Covid first and second waves. The government has announced the duties and responsibilities of Srikanth as the Special Commissioner, AP Bhavan. He has to work in co-ordination with MPs and the Central ministers for following up on the proposals and issues from the AP government. Engage with key stakeholders and investors at the national level, coordinate with the foreign embassies and Ministry of external affairs for approaching the international entities for promotion of the State. He has to ensure smooth fund flow under Government of India schemes and to monitor and coordinate to ensure the timely release and effective utilisation of funds sanctioned under various Government of India schemes for the AP State. The Special Commissioner has to pursue and expedite action on matters arising from the CM's visit to Delhi ensuring resolution and progress. Assist the Resident Commissioner in managing the affairs of Andhra Pradesh Bhavan, ensuring smooth operations and coordination with various Departments and undertake any other tasks and responsibilities as may be assigned by the CM from time to time. Srikanth will draw a fixed Remuneration of Rs 2 lakh pm and will get provision of government/hired vehicle.
