Protect biodiversity for sustainable future, says Andhra Pradesh deputy chief minister Pawan Kalyan

Vijayawada: Deputy chief minister K Pawan Kalyan on Thursday highlighted the importance of conserving biodiversity and urged everyone to participate in protecting nature in its original form for sustainable development. Pawan participated in the International Day for Biodiversity celebrations held by the Andhra Pradesh state biodiversity board at Thummalapalli Kala Kshetram. He observed that this year's theme, 'Harmony with Nature - Sustainable Development,' is very apt and that everyone should follow it to protect the environment. He emphasized that staying in harmony with nature means showing compassion towards every living organism on earth. Nature always has its own balance, and humans should not disrupt it, as this could be detrimental to the very existence of life, he said. He released a brochure on biodiversity and a book on the biodiversity of Kotappakonda by Dr. MC Naik. The Chairman of the AP Biodiversity Board, Neelayapalem Vijay Kumar, explained the need to change humans' attitude towards other living species, such as animals and plants. Humans should learn to coexist with other species, he said, adding that ecological imbalance and climate change are occurring due to human actions. Small actions, like the irresponsible use of plastic, can have detrimental effects not only on humanity but also on many other living organisms, he noted. Special Chief Secretary for Forests and Environment, G Ananta Ramu, and Member Secretary for the AP Biodiversity Board, P Rama Krishna, also spoke about the importance of biodiversity conservation for a sustainable future.
