Report: Hall of Famer buys small stake in Cleveland Browns

BEREA, Ohio (WKBN) – Pro Football Hall of Famer Charles Woodson is reportedly purchasing a 0.1% stake in the Cleveland Browns. Dianna Russini of The Athletic was the first to report the news. Woodson's purchase will reportedly cost approximately $5.15 million. According to the report, Woodson will be subject to similar restrictions as Tom Brady, who owns a stake in the Las Vegas Raiders. Woodson, who serves as a college football analyst for FOX Sports, will be limited in team access to avoid any conflicts of interest. In addition, he will also need to stop using his name, image, and likeness on packaging for the wine and whiskey companies that he is associated with in order to comply with the NFL's policy. A native of Fremont, Ohio, Woodson won the 1997 Heisman Trophy as a two-way standout at Michigan. He was selected by the Raiders with the No. 4 overall pick in the 1998 NFL Draft. He played in 254 career games in the NFL with the Raiders and Packers. During his career, he piled up the following accolades: three-time All-Pro, 1998 AP Defensive Rookie of the Year and 2009 AP Defensive Player of the Year. He also won Super Bowl XLV with Green Bay. Woodson was enshrined into Canton's Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2021. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. All rights reserved. 2025 NFL betting, odds, lines: Ashton Jeanty, Cam Ward favored to win NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year

The 2025 NFL Draft is in the rearview mirror, and there are plenty of exciting players coming into the league who are ready to make a splash with their new teams. Sportsbooks have already released odds for the 2025-26 AP Offensive Rookie of the Year, and Las Vegas Raiders running back Ashton Jeanty and Tennessee Titans quarterback Cam Ward are +250 co-favorites at BetMGM. Several other sportsbooks have Jeanty as a slight favorite ahead of Ward. Two-way star and Heisman trophy winner Travis Hunter — the No. 2 overall pick of the Jacksonville Jaguars — has the third-best OROY odds at sportsbooks at +550 at BetMGM. No other player has better than 10-1 odds to win OROY. Carolina Panthers wide receiver Tet McMillian (13-1) and Los Angeles Chargers RB Omarion Hampton (15-1) have the next-best odds at BetMGM, followed by New Orleans Saints QB Tyler Shough, Cleveland Browns RB Quinshon Judkins and New England Patriots RB TreVeyon Henderson at 20-1, and Packers WR Matthew Golden at 22-1. Browns QB Shedeur Sanders — a projected first-round talent who fell all the way to pick No. 144 in the fifth round — has 25-1 odds. New York Giants QB Jaxson Dart also has 25-1 odds to win the award, although both QBs have several veterans they'll need to unseat for playing time. Hunter also has the second-best odds (+750) to win the AP Defensive Rookie of the Year at BetMGM, with New York Giants defensive end Abdul Carter the favorite at +250 odds. Atlanta Falcons DE Jalon Walker (+900), San Francisco 49ers DE Mykel Williams (10-1) and Baltimore Ravens DE Mike Green (12-1) have the next-best odds. A quarterback has won the OROY award the past two years (Jayden Daniels in 2024 and C.J. Stroud in 2023), while a wide receiver won it the two years before that (Garrett Wilson in 2022 and Ja'Marr Chase in 2021). A QB has won the award in eight of the past 15 seasons. No offensive lineman or tight end has ever won the award.

Jets pick up 5th-year contract options of Sauce Gardner, Garrett Wilson and Jermaine Johnson

The New York Jets exercised the fifth-year contract options for all three of their 2022 first-round draft picks: cornerback Sauce Gardner, wide receiver Garrett Wilson and edge rusher Jermaine Johnson. The moves, announced by the team Wednesday, were expected after general manager Darren Mougey said last week the Jets would exercise the options on the three who are considered foundation-type players. Gardner, Wilson and Johnson have been bright spots during a rough stretch for a franchise that has the NFL's longest active playoff drought at 14 seasons. According to Over the Cap's projections on the fifth-year options that kick in during the 2026 season, Gardner would receive $20.2 million, Wilson $16.8 million and Johnson $13.4 million — with the salaries guaranteed. Gardner, the No. 4 overall pick in 2022, is a two-time All-Pro selection who was the AP Defensive Rookie of the Year and is regarded as one of the NFL's top cornerbacks. Wilson, selected 10th overall, was the AP Offensive Rookie of the Year and has more than 1,000 yards receiving in each of his first three seasons — the first player in franchise history to do so. He has 279 catches for 3,249 yards and 14 touchdowns. Johnson, who was taken 26th after then-GM Joe Douglas traded back into the first round to select him, was a Pro Bowl pick in 2023 before tearing his right Achilles tendon in Week 2 last year. He has 10 career sacks and is expected to be ready for this upcoming season. 'Officially here for Year 5!!' Johnson posted on X. 'Just want to take a little time to thank the Jets organization, Darren Mougey, Aaron Glenn and Woody Johnson for their belief in me and who I am on and off the field. Though I know it sounds corny, but it couldn't be more true, I've barely scratched the surface. As always, yall will get everything I got. Go Jets.' ___
