Elon Musk is no longer supporting US President Donald Trump's 'Big Beautiful Bill.' Musk, who supported Trump's campaign with at least $250 million and later worked as a senior adviser in his administration, said in a recent CBS interview that the bill increases government spending and "undermines the work" of his Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE)."I think a bill can be big or it could be beautiful," Musk said. "But I don't know if it could be both."advertisementSpeaking from the White House, Trump defended his agenda, saying, "I'm not happy about certain aspects of it, but I'm thrilled by other aspects of it." He added, "We're going to see what happens. It's got a way to go."MUSK PULLS BACK FROM POLITICS Musk's remarks come at a time when he is stepping away from government roles in order to focus on his companies, Tesla and SpaceX. He also said he plans to cut back on political donations, noting, "I think I've done enough."Earlier, Musk had high hopes of making big changes in Washington. He anticipated that DOGE would produce $1 trillion in spending reductions, but he has fallen well short of that goal."The federal bureaucracy situation is much worse than I realised," Musk told The Washington Post. "I thought there were problems, but it sure is an uphill battle trying to improve things in D.C., to say the least."advertisementThe White House still backs Musk's plan called "rescissions," which is going to cancel previous spending.
