Why is Elon Musk turning against Trump's ‘Big Beautiful Bill'?
Elon Musk is no longer supporting US President Donald Trump's 'Big Beautiful Bill.' Musk, who supported Trump's campaign with at least $250 million and later worked as a senior adviser in his administration, said in a recent CBS interview that the bill increases government spending and "undermines the work" of his Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE)."I think a bill can be big or it could be beautiful," Musk said. Musk's remarks come at a time when he is stepping away from government roles in order to focus on his companies, Tesla and SpaceX. He also said he plans to cut back on political donations, noting, "I think I've done enough."Earlier, Musk had high hopes of making big changes in Washington. He anticipated that DOGE would produce $1 trillion in spending reductions, but he has fallen well short of that goal."The federal bureaucracy situation is much worse than I realised," Musk told The Washington Post.
