JEE Advanced Results 2025: Meet A Rajeshwari, first TN tribal student to secure admission to IIT
This year, 22.7% of female candidates qualified JEE Advanced, marking the highest pass percentage for girls in recent years. A Rajeshwari — a tribal student from Tamil Nadu — made it to IIT. Rajeshwari will become the first student from the government tribal residential school to secure admission to an IIT. According to some reports, she will try to get into IIT Madras or IIT Bombay. JEE Advanced Rank Predictor | JEE Advanced Result Live | AIR 1 Rajit Gupta | AIR 2 Saksham Jindal | AIR 4 Parth Vartak | AIR 5 Ujjwal Kesari | AIR 7 Sahil Deo | JEE Main Female Topper | JEE Advanced Topper List | JoSAA Counselling Explained The Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur (IIT-K) released the results for the Joint Entrance Examination-Advanced on June 2. Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin on Thursday said the state government would bear the entire higher education expenditure of the 17-year-old tribal girl. Stalin said it would be a true pride for the IIT when 'more daughters like Rajeshwari' join the institution. 'Our Dravidian model government will continuously work for that,' he said in a social media post. The chief minister said he saluted Rajeshwari, a student of the Government Tribal Residential School, for her achievement, for realising the education dream of her father, who passed away last year. Though she lost her father, she realised his dream of pursuing and realising education goals. AIADMK top leader, former Chief Minister, Edappadi K Palaniswami, greeted the girl on her accomplishment. Rajeshwari hails from Karumandurai village in the Kalvarayan hills near Salem and belongs to the ST community. She has cleared the JEE and is set to join the IIT. Out of 41,337 girls who appeared for the highly competitive national-level exam, 9,404 cleared the test. This indicates an increase in the number of girls qualifying for the IITs, a promising shift since 2018 when the female supernumerary seat scheme was introduced to address low and stagnant female representation in the prestigious institute. Under the scheme, additional seats were created exclusively for girl students, with a target of reaching 20% enrolment within five years. In 2018, the pass percentage of girls in JEE-Advanced was 13.47%. It increased to 16.11% in 2019, and peaked at 19.98% in 2021 until now With inputs from PTI

Tribal girl from TN's Kalvarayan Hills makes it to IIT, realises late father's dream
CHENNAI: When A Rajeshwari, a tribal girl, walks on the hallowed corridors of an Indian Institute of Technology soon, she will be living her own dream, and one her father held close to his heart till he succumbed to cancer a year ago. A Aundi, her dad who belonged to the Malayali (Scheduled Tribe) community of Karumandurai, a village located 65km from Salem in the Kalvarayan Hills with a 90% tribal population, could study only up to Class 8 due to poverty and seasonal migration. Determined that his four children should have a different future, Aundi took up tailoring and toiled hard to provide them with a stable education, ably supported by his wife Kavitha. He succeeded in making his first two children undergraduates, which in itself is no mean feat. If he had not died in 2024, Aundi would have not only witnessed the proudest moment of his life but also the beginning of a transformation in the lives of his family as his third child Rajeshwari will make history by becoming the first tribal student from a Government Tribal Residential School run by the state government to enter into an IIT, most likely IIT-Madras. The girl from Government Tribal Residential Higher Secondary School in Karumandurai, has secured an all-India rank of 417 under the Scheduled Tribes category in the JEE Advanced results published on Monday.
