Passengers scream for their lives after plane struck by one natural disaster after another: ‘I am still in shock'
They really got flipped the bird. Passengers in India shrieked in terror after their plane sustained damage to its nose following turbulence, hail and a bird strike, as seen in white-knuckle footage. The aircraft had been flying from the capital, New Delhi, to Srinagar, India, on Wednesday, when it encountered violent weather conditions, South West News Service reported. Footage shows petrified flyers screaming in panic as the plane is violently rocked by turbulence and lightning flashes illuminate the inside of the cabin. The pilot notified Air Traffic Control (ATC) Srinagar of the extreme weather before safely landing at the destination, an hour and fifteen minutes after departure. Subsequent photos taken after landing show that the aircraft's nose had a gaping hole, while hail reportedly caused mild internal damage, according to reports. Thankfully, none of the 227 passengers were injured in the storm. Nonetheless, many were shaken by the ordeal. 'I was on this flight, heading now home,' recalled fly-witness Owais Hakeem. 'It was terrible and I am still in shock.' 'I had a narrow escape while flying from Delhi to Srinagar,' added fellow flyer Aaqib. 'Hats off to the captain for the safe landing. Special mention to REMITA cabin crew for staying calm and professional.' The aircraft is currently slated for an inspection by ground crews. In a similar incident last June, an Austrian Airlines flight was beset by a surprise hailstorm that tore away part of the airplane's nose and left the cockpit windows covered in cracks. Despite the heavy damage, the battered aircraft touched down safely in Vienna, Austria.

Pakistan head coach Javed 'a clown'
Former Pakistan Test head coach Jason Gillespie has called his successor Aaqib Javed "a clown" and accused him of undermining him and former white-ball coach Gary Kirsten in order to take over their roles. Gillespie and Kirsten were appointed to their respective positions in April 2024 but both resigned and were replaced by Aaqib before the end of the year. Gillespie's comments were in response to a social media post containing quotes from Aaqib, who attributed Pakistan's recent poor form to a lack of continuity around selectors and coaches. Pakistan crashed out of the Champions Trophy in the group stage without a win. Speaking on Tuesday, Aaqib said: "We changed 16 coaches in the last two-and-a-half years and 26 selectors. "If you do this to any team in the world, their performance would be the same." Replying on social media, Gillespie said: "This is hilarious. Aaqib was clearly undermining Gary and I behind the scenes, campaigning to be the coach in all formats. He is a clown." Ex-South Africa batter Kirsten spent just six months as white-ball head coach before resigning in October. Former Australia fast bowler Gillespie took interim charge during the white-ball tour of Australia in his absence, winning the one-day series but losing the T20 series, before Aaqib took permanent charge. Gillespie, who signed a two-year deal with the Pakistan Cricket Board last April, resigned as Test head coach in December, shortly after being removed from Pakistan's selection panel during the Test series against England. Players more hurt than fans, coach says as Pakistan crash out of Champions Trophy
RAWALPINDI: Pakistan's hurting players will be motivated by pride in their dead rubber against Bangladesh on Thursday, head coach Aaqib Javed said, after the hosts were dumped out of the Champions Trophy in the group stage. The defending champions' hopes of reaching the semifinals were ended after defeats to New Zealand and India, leaving their final Group A game in Rawalpindi inconsequential. Rain washed out the Australia-South Africa Group B match on Tuesday and more is predicted on Thursday, leaving Pakistan in danger of finishing fourth and last on net run-rate. Whatever happens it will be a disappointing conclusion to Pakistan's first hosting of a major international cricket competition in three decades. 'There are no excuses, there shouldn't be any in life, but I can assure you that the players are more hurt than the fans and want to leave a mark in the last game,' said Aaqib on Wednesday. 'The players are not satisfied, no one is satisfied after losing, but everyone tries hard to win and by doing so we have recently won a series in Australia and South Africa.' Pakistan beat Australia 2-1 in November — their first ODI series win there for 22 years — before whitewashing South Africa 3-0 in the build-up to the Champions Trophy. 'This is the Champions Trophy, where the eight best teams are playing, so after two defeats we have to start from zero,' said Aaqib. 'Every game is played for pride so we want to leave a mark on Thursday,' said Aaqib. Their Champions Trophy flop left former Pakistan players and fans angry over the continuous failure of the team, having also crashed out of the 2023 World Cup and Twenty20 World Cup last year both in the first round. Aaqib admitted losing to arch-rivals India left fans emotional. 'People are more involved in an India-Pakistan match and they do not accept a defeat against India and that defeat in Dubai has left them more dejected,' said Aaqib. Pakistan were below par against a formidable India in Dubai on Sunday, losing by six wickets. 'We managed just 241 in batting and when facing a strong batting line-up you attack in order to get wickets and in the process you bowl on both sides,' said Aaqib. A fast bowler himself, who played 22 Tests and 163 ODIs for Pakistan, Aaqib backed his struggling pace trio. 'People blamed two, three players, which is not correct,' said Aaqib. 'If you assess Shaheen (Afridi), Naseem (Shah) and Haris (Rauf), they are still the best bowlers in the world.'
