'That's not taxing unrealised capital gains, which just offends every principle of fairness when it comes to taxation,' he told Sky News Australia. 'And indexation is a concern for us.' This comes as Labor needs to do a deal in the Senate to get its super tax proposal passed.

'It was a tough night for the party,' Mr Violi told Sky News host Peta Credlin. 'Very fortunate and humbled to be re-endorsed with an increased margin locally. 'It's been a tough 48 hours. 'A review is nice, but actions from that as a party is what is needed moving forward.' Mr Violi won his seat in Victoria with a 52 per cent swing towards him, making him one of the handful of Coalition survivors.

'We need to listen to what the country are telling us and through their voting, they are telling us, they don't see themselves represented in the Liberal Party as we stand here today, and we need to understand that, and we need to move forward and offer them an alternative government.'
