Coalition's ‘red line, non-negotiables' on Labor's controversial super tax proposal

Liberal MP Aaron Violi has outlined the Coalition's two 'red line, non-negotiables' when it comes to Labor's controversial superannuation tax proposal. 'That's not taxing unrealised capital gains, which just offends every principle of fairness when it comes to taxation,' he told Sky News Australia. 'And indexation is a concern for us.' This comes as Labor needs to do a deal in the Senate to get its super tax proposal passed.

The Liberal party is ‘aware' of their lack of preference agreements with other parties

Liberal MP Aaron Violi says the Liberal Party is 'aware' of the preference flows and how they influence the outcome of an election. Mr Violi claims there is an 'unofficial agreement' between Labor and the Greens, which Prime Minister Anthony Albanese will 'never admit'. 'In no way that we are saying that the voting system is the reason that we're in Opposition and that we got the result that we got,' Mr Violi told Sky News host Peta Credlin. 'We need to ultimately … put forward great policies that are going to increase our primary. 'It has been an ongoing challenge for us.'

‘A tough 48 hours for the Coalition': Liberal MP

Liberal MP Aaron Violi claims it has been a 'bittersweet' time for the Liberal Party following their shocking loss at the federal election. 'It was a tough night for the party,' Mr Violi told Sky News host Peta Credlin. 'Very fortunate and humbled to be re-endorsed with an increased margin locally. 'It's been a tough 48 hours. 'A review is nice, but actions from that as a party is what is needed moving forward.' Mr Violi won his seat in Victoria with a 52 per cent swing towards him, making him one of the handful of Coalition survivors.

‘Offer them an alternative': Coalition needs to ‘move forward' and listen to Australia

Liberal MP Aaron Violi discusses the Liberal Party's political campaign and the future of the party following Labor's landslide victory on Saturday. Mr Violi managed to keep the marginal seat of Casey in Victoria in the face of a poor result across the board for the Liberal Party. 'Clearly, when you have a result like this across the country for the party, there are many lessons that we need to take,' Mr Violi said. 'I always say the best way to learn lessons is to listen. 'We need to listen to what the country are telling us and through their voting, they are telling us, they don't see themselves represented in the Liberal Party as we stand here today, and we need to understand that, and we need to move forward and offer them an alternative government.'
