Nurses calling on Mass General Brigham for fair wages, benefits
NORTHAMPTON, Mass. (WWLP) – Nurses held an informational picket outside of Cooley Dickinson Hospital Tuesday evening.

They are calling on Mass General Brigham to invest in safer staffing, fair wages, and full benefits.
According to the Massachusetts Nurses Association, contract negotiations with the parent company have lasted for six months now, since the contract expired earlier this year. They tell 22News that nurses have not received a wage proposal despite the health care system reporting more than $20 billion in revenue last year.
Nurses are also sounding the alarm on MGB's plan to reclassify some staff as part-time, which would remove their full-time health benefits.
RN and MNA Co-Chair Aaron Winston told 22News, 'Cooley Dickinson as a facility is in a recruitment and retention crisis right now.'
'Bad things can happen when nursing staff is overburdened, understaffed, and I think it also erodes our profession,' adds Rosie Tottser, RN and MNA Co-Chair.
Contract negotiations will continue on Wednesday. 22News has reached out to Mass General Brigham to respond, but has not heard back. We will update this story as soon as new information becomes available.
