Al-Shimmari: Iraq is ready to receive Qatari students at the Police College
The Minister of Interior Abdul Amir Al-Shimmari confirmed on Tuesday the Ministry's readiness to receive Qatari students at the Iraqi Police College. The minister met in his office a high-level delegation from the Qatari Ministry of Interior in the presence of the Qatari ambassador to Iraq, according to a statement by the media office of the Minister of Interior received by the Iraqi News Agency - INA. The meeting included discussing "cooperation in the field of students of the State of Qatar," as the Minister of Interior asserted, "Iraq's readiness to receive Qatari students at the Iraqi Police College." The Minister welcomed the Qatari guest delegation "in their second country, Iraq," and discussed "several issues of common concern, foremost of which is the exchange of security experiences, as well as drug control."

Iraq and the UK discuss strengthening security cooperation
Interior Minister Abdul Amir Al-Shimmari discussed on Tuesday with the British Ambassador to Iraq, Irfan Siddiq, ways to enhance bilateral cooperation in the security field. Iraq delivers an official invitation to Sudan to attend the Arab Summit
Interior Minister Abdul Amir Al-Shimmari delivered an official invitation to the Chairman of the Sudanese Sovereignty Council to attend the Arab Summit in Baghdad on Saturday. "Al-Shimmari and his accompanying delegation arrived in the brotherly Republic of Sudan to deliver an official invitation from the President of the Republic of Iraq, Abdul Latif Rashid, to the Chairman of the Sudanese Sovereignty Council, Lieutenant General Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan, to attend the 34th Arab Summit, scheduled to be held on May 17 in the capital, Baghdad," said the Ministry of Interior media office stated in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency - INA. Iraq: Dismantling an international drug network
The Drug Affairs Directorate, Ministry of Interior, announced on Monday the dismantling of an international drug network specializing in the manufacturing, smuggling, and trafficking of narcotics from the center of the country to the north. "Based on the directives of the PM and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, the directives of the Minister of Interior, Abdul Amir Al-Shimmari, and the decisions of the Iraqi judiciary at the Central Investigation Court in Rusafa, the General Directorate of Narcotics and Psychotropic Substances at the Ministry of Interior carried out a security and intelligence operation targeting an international drug network whose crimes extend from Baghdad to Salah al-Din, Kirkuk, Sulaymaniyah, Erbil, and Nineveh," said the directorate in a video - followed up by the Iraqi News Agency - INA. The video included details of the operation as it resulted in "the arrest of seven international drug dealers and the seizure of 90,000 Captagon pills in addition to special machines used to prepare the raw materials for manufacturing crystal meth." "Our directorate is not limited to combating narcotics locally, but has advanced its work after liaising with the Minister of Interior to combat them regionally and internationally," included the Directorate.

Iraq: Committed to strengthening international cooperation in combating organized crime
INA - BAGHDAD Interior Minister Abdul Amir Al-Shimmari affirmed on Monday that Iraq is committed to strengthening international cooperation in combating organized crime. The summit was attended by interior ministers from 38 countries. Al-Shimmari, in his opening remarks, reviewed the measures taken by the Iraqi government to enhance border security and combat human trafficking, migrant smuggling, and organized crime, affirming "Iraq's commitment to developing its security laws and enhancing international cooperation in combating these crimes." He highlighted "the importance of coordination between countries to maintain border security and combat cross-border crimes." "Iraq attaches great importance to cooperation with international partners to confront the growing challenges posed by organized crime and human trafficking. This cooperation constitutes an essential part of Iraq's strategy to enhance internal security and contribute to regional and international security," he stressed.
