The extradition, carried out in accordance with a decision by the Dubai Court of Cassation, involves an individual accused of murder and participation in a criminal organisation. During the call, both ministers emphasised that the successful extradition demonstrates a firm and ongoing commitment to upholding the rule of law and strengthening international legal cooperation. 'This positive development is further evidence of the excellent criminal justice cooperation between the governments of the UAE and Ireland,' the ministers said in a joint statement. 'It highlights our joint dedication to ensuring that criminal prosecutions may be brought against those who attempt to evade justice.' The ministers also praised the efforts of Dubai Police and An Garda Síochána, Ireland's national police service, for their close cooperation in the case. They acknowledged the importance of continued police-to-police engagement to counter the global threat of organised crime. The phone call follows the entry into force of bilateral agreements on extradition and mutual legal assistance in criminal matters between the two countries on 18 May 2025, after the completion of all required legal procedures. Officials on both sides reaffirmed their commitment to enhancing collaboration between law enforcement and judicial authorities, with the shared goal of promoting cross-border security and the effective administration of justice.

The ministers emphasised that the extradition underscores a firm and ongoing joint commitment to upholding the rule of law and fostering international cooperation. It reflects the strong relationship between the UAE and Ireland, the continued collaboration in the pursuit of international justice, and a shared determination to ensure that justice is served.
