New Delhi: Good news for the Indians travelling to the United Arab Emirates, the UAE Embassy in New Delhi has announced that the visa-on-arrival facility for Indians has been expanded. According to the latest order, the Indian citizens who hold valid residence permits from Australia, Canada, Japan, New Zealand, South Korea, and Singapore can obtain a visa on arrival at all entry points in the UAE. It is important to note that this new facility has been implemented from February 13, 2025. Expansion of Existing Rules To recall, prior to this new change, the Indian citizens were only eligible for a visa on arrival in the UAE only if they held a valid visa, residence permit, or Green Card from the United States, European Union (EU), or the United Kingdom (UK). Now, with the new changes, six more countries have been added to this list, making travel to the UAE even more convenient for Indian travelers. As per the UAE government, the open and easy travel management plays a pivotal role in building a strong human relations between the two countries. Especially for nations like India and the UAE, which are connected economically, culturally, and strategically, this initiative is a symbol of trust and cooperation. 'This Step Will Further Strengthen Ties' The UAE Ambassador to India, Dr. Abdulnasser Alshaali, described this initiative as a strong signal of the India-UAE partnership. The initiative delivers on a key commitment under the UAE–India Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) to promote innovation-led collaboration and support the internationalisation of Indian start-ups. In his special address, Dr Abdulnasser Alshaali, the UAE Ambassador to India, underscored the UAE's commitment to entrepreneurship and cross-border innovation : 'Start-ups are central to the UAE–India economic corridor. Through this Series, the UAE-India CEPA Council seeks to connect India's brightest entrepreneurial minds with the UAE's world-class ecosystem, supporting their scale-up journeys while enriching our bilateral innovation landscape.' The launch comes amid a period of strong economic momentum between the UAE and India. In FY 2023–24, bilateral trade reached USD 83.64 billion, marking a nearly 15% year-on-year increase since the CEPA came into effect.
