Woman files fraud case against colleague
Kanpur: A woman filed a fraud report against a colleague on Thursday for embezzling Rs 20 lakh out of Rs 25 lakh given for opening a showroom. Pankaj Kumar Gupta, a resident of Shardanagar, retired from the Indian Air Force.
According to Pankaj's wife Rekha, Nikhilesh Mishra, a resident of Adil Nagar, Lucknow, is an acquaintance of her husband. Nikhilesh's wife, Abhaya Mishra, planned to open a retail shop franchise of a fashion group in Kannauj in partnership. The total cost for setting up the showroom and purchasing goods was estimated to be Rs 50 lakh.
Rekha gave Rs 25 lakh, her share to Abhaya. It is alleged that Abhaya did not contribute her share of the money which resulted in the showroom not being opened, causing them a loss. When they demanded their money back, only Rs 4.10 lakh were returned. ACP Kalyanpur Abhishek Kumar stated that a report has been filed and matter is under investigation. tnn
