Youth shot dead over land dispute in Madhepura
Madhepura: Unidentified armed miscreants shot dead a youth over a land dispute on the Madhepura-Sahugadh Road under Madhepura town police station area of the district late Friday evening.
The deceased was identified as Abhimanyu Kumar (30), son of Tarun Yadav, a resident of Adarsh Nagar locality.
According to Akhilesh Kumar, elder brother of the victim, Abhimanyu purchased diesel at a local fuel pump for irrigation purpose and was heading towards his house on foot when assailants, already lying in ambush on a bike, shot at him close to his house and fled the spot. He received two bullet injuries — one in the chest and another in the head.
"Hearing gunshots, locals rushed to the spot and took him to the local Jan Nayak Karpoori Thakur Medical College and Hospital, where the attending doctor provided him first aid and referred him to a higher centre for better treatment, but he succumbed his injuries on the way to Saharsa," the victim's brother said.
SI of Madhepura police station, Indrajeet Tanti, along with police force also rushed to the hospital after getting information about the incident, and sent the body for postmortem.
Madhepura SDPO Pravendra Bharti suspects that a land dispute might be the reason behind the incident. However, he said that the matter was being investigated.
