Three-day cultural fest to pay homage to literary icon Shewalkar from May 1
Nagpur: The city is set to be enriched with a three-day festival, 'Abhiwadan Shewalkar,' organised by the
Shri Siddhivinayak Seva Trust
from May 1 to 3. This significant event, offering a vibrant tapestry of drama, insightful lectures, and captivating music concerts, marks the first major public initiative organised by
MLC Sandip Joshi
after he was elected as member of the Legislative Council last month.
The festival is a heartfelt tribute to the revered icon of Marathi literature,
Ram Shewalkar
, whose death anniversary falls on May 3. Sandip Joshi's Shri Siddhivinayak Seva Trust has curated a programme that promises to resonate deeply with the cultural ethos of the region.
The festivities will commence on May 1, at the Volleyball Ground, Aath Rasta Chowk, Laxmi Nagar, at 6.30pm. The opening act will be the compelling monologue play 'Tya Tighi' presented by Abhivyakt, Pune. This one-act play narrates the inspiring tales of the courageous women from the Savarkar family, who stood steadfastly behind their husbands in their patriotic endeavours during India's freedom struggle.
The second day, May 2, will feature a thought-provoking lecture by renowned Ayurveda expert and orator, Dr Parikshit Sachchidanand Shevde. He will delve into the life and legacy of the 'Dharmaveer' Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj.
On May 3, a melodious concert by the acclaimed singer Priyanka Barve will be organised. All events will be open to the public sans entry fee.
