Disturbing new details released in fatal Fisherman's Wharf In-N-Out shooting
SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) — Last Wednesday, a man was shot and killed near the In-N-Out at Fisherman's Wharf in San Francisco. New information about that daytime shooting has come out, which claimed the life of a Contra Costa County man. Court documents obtained by KRON4 suggest the man shot and killed may not have known he was being targeted. Prosecutors have charged 44-year-old Abraham Torres with murder. In a motion to detain Torres until trial, prosecutors say that at the time of the shooting, surveillance video shows the following: The victim's vehicle was stopped at a red light near the 1200 block of Columbus Avenue. The defendant then appears behind the victim's stopped vehicle and walks toward it, shooting an assault weapon. Police have said the wounded victim was able to drive a couple of blocks before coming to a stop outside the In-N-Out Burger off Leavenworth, where he died of his injuries. The victim has been identified as 61-year-old Chalay Saelee. Court documents describe the victim as an 'unarmed innocent man who is simply sitting in his vehicle at a red light.' While Torres made his first court appearance on Friday, he did not enter a plea. But court documents say when he turned himself into police shortly after the shooting, he told police 'it was me,' and an AR-style rifle with an ammunition magazine was found in the defendant's car. SAN FRANCISCO - The alleged gunman in Wednesday's fatal shooting at San Francisco's Fisherman's Wharf has been charged with murder, officials say. The victim in that attack has been identified as an East Bay resident. What we know The San Francisco District Attorney's Office on Friday announced the suspect was charged with murder and possession of a firearm by a felon. Yesterday, the suspect was identified as 44-year-old Abraham Torres. Torres was arraigned this afternoon and remains in custody in the San Francisco County Jail. The backstory Wednesday's afternoon shooting happened near Columbus Avenue and Northpoint Street, an area typically flooded with tourists. Police said the suspect was inside his vehicle when he fired his weapon at the victim, who was in another vehicle. The victim drove about two blocks before stopping at Leavenworth and Beach streets where he died, police said. The suspect fled the scene but turned himself in to police shortly after the shooting, not too far from where it had occurred. The San Francisco Medical Examiner's Office on Friday identified the victim in the attack as 61-year-old Chalay Saelee. The D.A.'s office said, although charges have been filed, this remains an active investigation. A motive for the shooting has not yet been disclosed.

Suspect in deadly shooting near San Francisco's Fisherman's Wharf identified
Police in San Francisco released additional details Thursday and identified a suspect following a deadly shooting near Fisherman's Wharf on Wednesday afternoon. Shortly after 1:10 p.m., officers were called to the area of Columbus Avenue and North Point Street on reports of a shooting. Officers headed to the scene were told that a man was inside his vehicle when he shot at another occupied vehicle before fleeing. After police arrived and searched the area, they learned that the suspect, identified as 44-year-old Abraham Torres, turned himself in at the department's Central Station. Near Leavenworth and Beach Streets, officers located a vehicle and found a male victim, who was in the driver's seat unresponsive and suffering from gunshot wounds. Despite aid rendered by officers and paramedics, the victim was pronounced deceased at the scene. The victim's name has not been released. Police said Wednesday that the shooting was an isolated incident. Torres was booked into the San Francisco County Jail on suspicion of homicide. Additional details were not immediately available.
