Palestinian Civil Defense Chief, His Wife Killed in Israeli Strike
DaysofPal — Colonel Ashraf Hassan Abu Nar, director of Central Operations in the Palestinian Civil Defense, and his wife were killed Sunday morning when an Israeli airstrike struck their home in the Nuseirat refugee camp, the Civil Defense Directorate announced. In an official statement, the Civil Defense described Colonel Abu Nar as 'a disciplined and dedicated humanitarian professional' who had led emergency operations across Gaza Governorate, Central Gaza, Khan Younis, and most recently the directorate's Central Operations. 'He devoted his career to saving lives under the harshest conditions,' the statement read. Local reporters confirmed that the bombing also tore through the family courtyard, killing Colonel Abu Nar's wife instantly. The killing of such a high-ranking civil defense official underscores a broader pattern: Israeli forces continue to target emergency responders, medical teams, and humanitarian infrastructure across Gaza. On Sunday alone, more than 22 civilians were killed and dozens injured by relentless airstrikes in central and southern Gaza, according to the Palestinian Ministry of Health. Meanwhile, Israel's tightening blockade remains in place. All border crossings into Gaza are closed, with only a handful of aid trucks allowed through in recent days—an amount relief agencies have called 'a drop in the ocean' for a population of two million facing starvation and siege. Civil Defense Operations Director and Wife Martyred in Home Shelling
Amir Hagag Colonel Ashraf Hassan Abu Nar, Director of the Central Operations Department at the General Directorate of Civil Defense, and his wife were killed Sunday morning in a shelling of their home in the Nuseirat refugee camp in central Gaza. The General Directorate of Civil Defense mourned the martyrdom of Colonel Abu Nar in a direct Israeli attack inside his home in Nuseirat refugee camp. The Directorate said in a statement that Colonel Abu Nar had served over the past years as Director of the Gaza, Central, and Khan Yunis governorates, and most recently as Director of Operations. He was "a disciplined officer and a committed official in his humanitarian and professional work." The occupation authorities continue to tighten the noose on Gaza by closing the crossings and preventing the arrival of relief supplies, with the exception of a few trucks that were allowed to cross a few days ago to areas in the southern Gaza Strip. International organizations have described these trucks as "a drop in the ocean of need for two million hungry and besieged people." read more Gold prices rise, 21 Karat at EGP 3685 NATO's Role in Israeli-Palestinian Conflict US Expresses 'Strong Opposition' to New Turkish Military Operation in Syria Shoukry Meets Director-General of FAO Lavrov: confrontation bet. nuclear powers must be avoided News Iran Summons French Ambassador over Foreign Minister Remarks News Aboul Gheit Condemns Israeli Escalation in West Bank News Greek PM: Athens Plays Key Role in Improving Energy Security in Region News One Person Injured in Explosion at Ukrainian Embassy in Madrid News Egypt confirms denial of airspace access to US B-52 bombers News Ayat Khaddoura's Final Video Captures Bombardment of Beit Lahia News Australia Fines Telegram $600,000 Over Terrorism, Child Abuse Content Arts & Culture Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban's $4.7M LA Home Burglarized Sports Former Al Zamalek Player Ibrahim Shika Passes away after Long Battle with Cancer Sports Neymar Announced for Brazil's Preliminary List for 2026 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers News Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouly Inaugurates Two Indian Companies Arts & Culture New Archaeological Discovery from 26th Dynasty Uncovered in Karnak Temple Business Fear & Greed Index Plummets to Lowest Level Ever Recorded amid Global Trade War Arts & Culture Zahi Hawass: Claims of Columns Beneath the Pyramid of Khafre Are Lies
