Closure and Suspension of 16 Establishments and Destruction of 1,359 kg of Contaminated Food Products in Zarqa The Unified Market Control Committee in Zarqa Governorate carried out an intensive inspection campaign, resulting in the destruction of 1,359 kilograms of food products unfit for consumption, and the closure and suspension of 16 violating establishments. This was part of rigorous inspections carried out last week as part of ongoing efforts to regulate markets and protect consumers. اضافة اعلان The campaign saw the destruction of 885 liters of spoiled juices, in addition to issuing 51 warnings to food establishments for violating health and safety standards. Eighteen violations were also recorded against establishments that manipulated prices set by the Zarqa Directorate of Industry and Trade. As part of the intensified regulatory efforts, the Environmental and Food Health Department of the Zarqa Health Directorate conducted 1,114 field visits targeting water desalination stations and juice shops since the beginning of Ramadan. This led to the closure and suspension of 14 violating establishments, the issuance of 154 warnings, and the imposition of 14 fines for public health violations. Zarqa Governor Dr. Firas Abu Qaoud emphasized that joint coordination between regulatory bodies is a fundamental pillar in maintaining market discipline and ensuring a safe consumer environment. He pointed out that the Unified Committee includes representatives from the Jordan Food and Drug Administration, the Health Directorate, the Industry and Trade Directorate, and the Public Safety Committees, which enhances the speed of enforcement actions against violators. Dr. Abu Qaoud stressed that inspection teams work around the clock to monitor food storage facilities and commercial establishments, ensuring the suitability of products on the market. He noted that the inspection also includes monitoring charitable iftar meals and Ramadan tables in cooperation with the Jordan Food and Drug Administration, ensuring that safe and healthy meals are provided to fasting individuals. He confirmed that the Unified Committee will continue to enforce strict market control, ensuring fair prices and protecting consumers from any violations that could threaten their health or infringe upon their rights. He emphasized that food safety is not subject to compromise or negotiation.

He explained that a unified committee has been formed, consisting of representatives from the Jordan Food and Drug Administration, the Health Directorate, the Industry and Trade Directorate, and public safety committees, to monitor the markets and address any violations related to the quality and safety of food products. He added that these committees conduct morning and evening inspection tours of food warehouses and commercial shops to ensure product validity and conformity with specifications, in addition to monitoring charitable iftar meals and Ramadan tables in cooperation with the Jordan Food and Drug Administration to ensure the provision of safe and healthy meals for fasting individuals. Dr. Abu Qaoud clarified that the unified committee will continue its strict regulatory tasks during the holy month to protect consumers and strengthen effective market supervision, ensuring a stable and safe economic environment for everyone.
