Tata Harrier EV will be built on the carmaker's new Plus platform, which is more upgraded version of the architecture the Punch EV currently uses. Certain variants of the Tata Harrier EV will be offered with a dual-motor all-wheel-drive setup, which promises to enhance the appeal of the electric SUV. This will be aligned with Tata Motors' previous announcement that the new electric SUV will be capable of tackling treacherous terrains, which the OEM showcased in its latest teaser video for the Harrier EV as well. While battery capacity details of the Tata Harrier EV are not yet confirmed, early indications suggest the SUV could offer a driving range exceeding 500 kilometres per charge. A more affordable front-wheel-drive variant with a single motor may also be part of the lineup at a later stage. Tata Motors recently released the teaser for the Harrier EV in which the brand showcased the capability of the electric SUV. The challenge for the Harrier EV was to climb up the Elephant Rock located in Kerala. It has an elevation of 3,937 feet with rocky terrain and steep climbs. The Harrier EV was able to climb up the Elephant Rock, which is quite impressive. Tata Harrier EV will have a torque output of 500 Nm. Tata Motors, which previously held two-thirds of India's electric passenger vehicle market, experienced a decline in its market share to 35.4% in May 2025, a decrease of 3,078 basis points compared to the same month in the previous year. The company recorded 4,319 units sold, reflecting a 19% year-on-year decrease, and an 8% drop month-on-month. In the initial two months of FY26, Tata has recorded sales of 9,038 electric vehicles (EVs), representing a 14% decrease year-over-year (YoY) from 10,477 units during the corresponding period last year. The company's flagship models, Nexon EV, Tiago EV, and Tigor EV, continue to enjoy popularity; however, they are encountering mounting competition from newer and more innovative options. The Punch EV contributes significantly to sales volumes, yet the forthcoming introductions of the Harrier and Sierra EV are expected to be pivotal for the current financial year. Tata Motors currently has the largest lineup of electric vehicles in the Indian market. The homegrown manufacturer's EV lineup starts with the Tiago EV which is one of the most affordable EVs in India. Then there is the Tigor EV and Punch EV. Then in the lineup is the Nexon EV, which is one of the most popular EVs in India. Currently, Tata Motors' flagship EV is the Curvv EV. Tata currently has 5 electric cars in its portfolio.
