13-year-old bicyclist seriously injured after collision in Tahoe area

A 13-year-old girl was seriously injured Saturday morning after the bicycle she was riding was struck by a car in the South Lake Tahoe area. The California Highway Patrol reports that the girl was riding an E-bike when she was hit by an Acura MDX at the intersection of Lake Tahoe Boulevard and Sawmill Road. A CHP press release said she was thrown into the air and hit a 'snow-paddle marker.' The girl, a resident of South Lake Tahoe, was transported to Barton Memorial Hospital with what the CHP called life-threatening injuries. No information was available Sunday on her condition. The car's driver, also a South Lake Tahoe resident, was described as a 56-year-old woman. Witnesses to the accident are asked to call Officer M. Renk at the CHP's South Lake Tahoe area office, at (530) 539-9500.

EL DORADO COUNTY – A 13-year-old girl riding an e-bike was revived and hospitalized with life-threatening injuries after she was hit by a vehicle near South Lake Tahoe Saturday morning, the California Highway Patrol said. Just after 7:45 a.m., officers said the teen girl was riding her e-bike in the area of Lake Tahoe Boulevard and Sawmill Road. When she was crossing Lake Tahoe Boulevard, the driver of an Acura MDX was heading east on Lake Tahoe Boulevard and crashed into the girl. The girl was propelled into the air and hit a snow paddle maker, the CHP said. Firefighters were able to revive the girl, officers said. She was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries. The CHP is seeking to speak to anyone who witnessed the crash and was not interviewed. The driver of the Acura, a 53-year-old woman from South Lake Tahoe, was not injured. The CHP did not say any arrests were made. The crash remains under investigation.

CHICAGO (WGN) — A West Side crash that left a 25-year-old woman dead in late April is now being investigated as a homicide. Officers say the deadly crash, which claimed the life of 25-year-old Keyana Meeks, unfolded around 4:15 a.m. on Tuesday, April 29, in the 1300 block of South Lawndale Avenue in North Lawndale. Read more: Latest Chicago news and headlines An initial report by police indicated that Meeks was on foot when she was struck by an Acura MDX after the driver allegedly struck a curb while making a left turn. Photos from the scene show the vehicle involved partially overturned near a building in the area with police tape cordoning off the scene. Meeks was badly injured in the crash and later died at the hospital, while the driver of the vehicle, an unidentified 21-year-old woman, suffered an injury to her leg. LATEST CASES: Missing people in Chicagoland The driver of the Acura was taken into custody after receiving medical treatment, however, charges against her were never announced. FHP: Man dead, teen hurt after mini-bikes collide with SUV in Orange County

Florida Highway Patrol is investigating a deadly crash in Orange County involving two mini-bikes and an SUV. It happened around 6:30 p.m. Sunday on Orange Avenue near Nela Avenue in the Pine Castle area. Troopers said two people were thrown from their bikes after both crashed into the back of an Acura MDX SUV. FHP said the SUV was stopped in traffic on the inside lane of northbound Orange Avenue at the time. A 21-year-old Orlando man died after the impact. A 16-year-old boy, also of Orlando, was seriously hurt, troopers said. The driver and a passenger in the SUV were uninjured and stayed at the crash site, according to FHP. Man killed in wrong-way semi-truck crash on M-14 near Ann Arbor

LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) — A man driving on the wrong side of M-14 was killed after crashing head-on into a semi-truck yesterday. The Michigan State Police Brighton Post that troopers were sent to a car and semi-truck crash at the area of eastbound M-14 Hwy. at Vorhies Rd. in Washtenaw County at around 11:05 p.m. Police report that a 2009 Acura MDX driven by a 26-year-old man from Whitmore Lake was traveling westbound on M-14 in the eastbound lane. The Acura crashed into a semi-truck traveling eastbound, driven by a 25-year-old man from Ontario, head-on. Police say the 26-year-old man was pronounced dead on the scene.
