Nixa falls to Oak Park in state semfinals
COLUMBIA, Mo–The bigger Class 5 and 6 schools playing in the Missouri state high school basketball semifinals Wednesday. In Class 6 boys, the Nixa Eagles squared off with Oak Park out of north Kansas City. Nixa was back in the Final Four for the first time in three years. And the Eagles rode a 13 game winning streak into the semifinal. Nixa hanging tough early, Adam McKnight working hard down low gets the basket, and the Eagles were in front 8-6. Then the court length pass to Keivon Flint for the basket, and it was a two point game. Oak Park led 20-to-16 at the half. But the Northmen would build a big lead in the third quarter. Then Josh Kori starts the fourth quarter with this slam dunk, and Oak Park was up by a dozen. Nixa would battle back, again it's McKnight with two of his 21 points, to make it a six point deficit. Then Flint swishes this three to make it a five point game. But Nixa could not get any closer, and lose to Oak Park 61-50. Nixa plays Lafayette for third place Thursday.
