Church holds Night to Shine, prom for people with disabilities
NEW WATERFORD, Ohio (WKBN) — At churches all across the country Friday, volunteers made something special happen — a prom for people of all ages with disabilities.
It's called Night to Shine put on by the Tim Tebow Foundation.
At Lake Mount Church of Christ in New Waterford, nearly 200 volunteers came together to give 300 attendees an unforgettable prom. They had a red carpet, hair, nails and shoe shining plus dinner, karaoke, and dancing.
Adam Ridgeley attends the church and was there with his brother.
'It's a big deal for him. He's a — he's a people person. He loves to hug and sing and dance so this would be a good opportunity for him to show off his dancing skills and maybe do a little karaoke and, and obviously, he's got the style for it too as well,' Ridgely said.
'You think about maybe a segment of our population that is forgotten or overlooked and we just want this night and not just this night — but all nights — but this night in particular to be all about them,' said Jason Cole with Lake Mount Church of Christ.
It was the first year the church held Night to Shine and everyone was excited to make it all happen. They plan to hold the event again in the future.
