Police release CCTV footage of ‘targeted' shooting on Melbourne street
Police probing a brazen street shooting say the 'planned and targeted attack' could have hurt innocent bystanders. A man was shot in the ankle after allegedly being lured to a home in Fawkner, in Melbourne's north, under the pretence of providing a quote for a trades job. In footage released on Monday, the alleged victim is seen arriving in Denys Street just after 9.30am on 3 October last year. A different man exits a white 2018 Mercedes-Benz GLC and runs towards him, shooting him in the left ankle. The bullet travelled straight through his ankle before exiting and hitting his right foot. The alleged victim was rushed to hospital with serious injuries which he still requires ongoing treatment for. The footage shows the shooter running back to the waiting car, and fleeing the scene. The vehicle was bearing cloned plates, 1NB7FC, and has not been found. Investigators said the address was chosen randomly and the incident was not connected to anyone living on that street. 'It would have been incredibly frightening for those on the street who were simply going about their daily lives at 9.30 on a Wednesday morning,' he said on Monday. 'We have a significant investigation into the incident under way and are keen to speak to anyone who has information about the shooting. 'This had the potential to impact innocent parties and we will do absolutely everything in our power to bring those involved before the court.'
