Bindi Irwin's secret struggle before being rushed to hospital for emergency surgery

Bindi Irwin was rushed to hospital just hours after touching down in Las Vegas for a gala honouring her late father last month. And it's been revealed, the conservationist, 26, was suffering from intense pain just hours before she suffered a ruptured appendix and was raced into surgery. Adil Cader, the founder of Talking Foreign Affairs, made the revelation in a candid LinkedIn post while revealing he interviewed Bindi prior to her flight. 'Just hours before flying out for emergency surgery and missing a gala honouring her father's legacy, Bindi showed up for an awareness raising interview with us,' he wrote. 'She was in intense pain. Yet not once did she ask to wrap early. Not once did her words feel anything but thoughtful and present. Not once did she let on that she was suffering. From A-list scandals and red carpet mishaps to exclusive pictures and viral moments, subscribe to the DailyMail's new showbiz newsletter to stay in the loop. 'She had every reason to cancel. Most would have. She did it because she wanted to offer hope to others going through silent struggles.' Adil praised Bindi for completing the interview despite suffering from pain. 'That's what real character looks like. That's what true leadership is. This is what true grit is like,' he said. 'Battling through the biggest pain, yet smiling, just to give others hope. Thank you Bindi.' Last month, Bindi was rushed to hospital just hours after touching down in Las Vegas for a gala honouring her late father Steve Irwin. She suffered a ruptured appendix and was raced into surgery, missing the prestigious event that she was due to attend alongside brother Robert Irwin and mother Terri Irwin. Robert told People magazine at the time that Bindi was recovering and her mother was at her bedside. 'She's going to be okay, but surgery - out of all the things we were ready for, that was not one of them,' Robert explained. Terri also missed the event while accompanying her daughter to hospital and staying by her side through surgery. Robert explained that Bindi had been suffering some pain in the lead-up to the gala but had tried to soldier on. 'She came to Las Vegas and was ready to put on a brave face. She said, "I'm just going to tough it out". 'But the surgeon told her, "Your appendix is going. It's got to come out".' In an Instagram post, Bindi revealed that while her appendix was removed, doctors discovered another 14 lesions from her endometriosis. These were also successfully removed. She also had a large hernia repaired which had developed after giving birth to daughter Grace in 2021.
