Fadnavis draws parallels between Op Sindoor & first column raised by Ahilyabai Holkar
Nashik: At a gathering in Ahilyanagar's Chondi on Saturday, chief minister Devendra Fadnavis drew a comparison between women's involvement in Operation Sindoor — India's response to the April 22 terrorist attack in Pahalgam that killed 26 tourists — and the pioneering women's military unit established during Ahilyabai Holkar's reign. During the commencement of Ahilyadevi Holkar's 300th birth anniversary celebrations, Fadnavis said: "Ahilyadevi was the first queen who raised the first column of women soldiers, taking the mantle of defending the Swarajya in their hands. Today, we can see how the women performed in Operation Sindoor at various levels." He added, "Just as Ahilyadevi, known for her military prowess and strategic leadership, started manufacturing weapons indigenously, our country has manufactured Brahmos, used by India to destroy the air bases in Pakistan during the operation." The chief minister shared an anecdote about Ahilyadevi's progressive stance on dowry, where she implemented a ban after encountering a father's difficulty in arranging for his daughter's marriage due to dowry demands. Maharashtra Launches ‘Adishakti Abhiyan' for Women Empowerment, Allocates Rs 10.50 Crore
Last Updated: The Adishakti Abhiyan aims to ensure the effective implementation and awareness of various government schemes for women and children The Maharashtra Cabinet has approved the launch of the Adishakti Abhiyan, a move to strengthen grassroots women's empowerment. The announcement was made during a special cabinet meeting held at Choundi, the birthplace of Ahilyabai Holkar, on the occasion of her 300th birth anniversary. The Adishakti Abhiyan aims to ensure the effective implementation and awareness of various government schemes for women and children. The campaign will address key issues such as malnutrition, infant and maternal mortality, domestic violence, sexual harassment, and child marriage. It will also promote increased participation of women in the Panchayati Raj system. To ensure smooth implementation, committees will be formed at the village, taluka, district, divisional, and state levels. These committees will play an active role in spreading awareness, identifying local issues, and delivering timely solutions. A mandatory participation of all Panchayat Samitis has been outlined under this campaign. The government will also introduce the Adishakti Awards to encourage active participation and reward outstanding work. Gram Panchayats will be evaluated annually from January 1 to December 31, and award ceremonies will be held in the first week of March. Selection will occur at the taluka, district, and state levels. The village committees will work in coordination with Anganwadi workers and Taluka Protection Officers to counsel families, prevent child marriages, and support victims of domestic violence. They will also be responsible for ensuring that girls and women are protected from harassment and receive proper access to welfare schemes. Women and Child Development Minister Aditi Tatkare emphasised that under the leadership of Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Deputy CM Eknath Shinde, and Deputy CM Ajit Pawar, the government is committed to building an inclusive and empowered society. Maha: Govt takes 11 decisions in Cabinet meeting
Mumbai, May 6 (UNI) The Maharashtra government, headed by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, on Tuesday took 11 major decisions in a special meeting of the Cabinet held at Chaundi, the birthplace of Punyashloka Ahilyadevi Holkar, in Ahilyanagar to mark her tercentenary. The government took a decision to produce a commercial Marathi and multilingual film based on the life of Punyashlok Ahilyadevi Holkar. It was decided to implement the Adishakti Mission for empowerment of women in the state and present Adishakti Award. The Gram Panchayats that implement this Adishakti Abhiyan excellently will be given the Adishakti Award and Rs 10.50 crore will be spent to implement this campaign. It was also decided to create sensitisation in the society regarding the economic, social, educational and health problems of women through the campaign, awareness and movement in the state. The government took a decision to reduce malnutrition, infant mortality, maternal mortality, increase the level of education among girls by eliminating gender discrimination, create a child marriage-free society, prevent sexual and physical abuse and create a violence-free family and society, eliminate unwholesome customs, provide women with benefits from government schemes and provide economic development through self-employment opportunities. The government also decided to implement a scheme named after Raje Yashwantrao Holkar to provide education to students of the Dhangar community in a renowned English medium residential school. This scheme will now be implemented as 'Yashwant Vidyarthi Yojana' and 10,000 students will be educated in a renowned school every year. It was also decided to build hostels at the headquarters of the Revenue division for meritorious students of the Dhangar community, who are pursuing post-matriculation education, under the Punyashlok Ahilyadevi Holkar Hostel Scheme. The Cabinet also decided to conduct a survey of the ghats, wells, water distribution systems built by Punyashlok Ahilyadevi Holkar and to implement a special scheme for their preservation. It was also decided to establish a new government medical college with a capacity of 100 students and a 430-bed attached hospital to be named as Punyashloka Ahilyadevi Holkar Government Medical College. It was also decided to extend the period of Mission Mahagram programme being implemented under Village Social Transformation Foundation (VSTF) till 2028, instead of 2022-25.
