Raniganj BDO caught taking bribe of Rs1.5 lakh

and executive assistant Aditya Priyadarshi were arrested on Tuesday night while accepting a

According to a reliable source, Kalanand Singh, the up-pramukh of Raniganj Block, had filed a complaint against BDO Chauhan for demanding an advance bribe of Rs 1.5 lakh. This bribe was allegedly sought before releasing a pending payment of Rs 15 lakh for completed development work – the demanded amount being 10% of the total.
In a trap laid by the vigilance team, Rs 1.5 lakh in cash was handed over to Priyadarshi after a phone conversation with the BDO. Shortly thereafter, Priyadarshi proceeded to deliver the money to the BDO at his residence. As he was doing so, the vigilance team entered the premises and caught both officials red-handed. The bribe money was found in the hands of the BDO at the time of the arrest.
