Youngstown Business Incubator hosts its first Advanced Manufacturing User Expo
NILES, Ohio (WKBN) — A local organization is focusing on the future of technological advancements in manufacturing. Advanced manufacturing is on full display at the Youngstown Business Incubator's first Advanced Manufacturing User Expo, bringing leaders, innovators and technology experts together for a day of networking and more at the Eastwood Event Centre. 'We're competing against China and if we can bind together and come together to create stronger better, more durable more advanced technologies, we can absolutely win on that stage,' said Barb Ewing, YBI CEO. Athens, Ohio-based Vitruvian was one company taking part in the inaugural event, bringing along its modified spider crane called The Scorpion. 'Understanding the level of advanced manufacturing technologies that are in this area and be able to be part of this, not only YBI, but America Makes and this ecosystem — it really does something for not only Vitruvian but the area,' said Stefano Alva, Vitruvian Technologies Director of Operations. Vitruvian has a 3D printer on the head of its crane, which is used to lay concrete. 'We believe with technologies like this we can bring a new generation of construction workers, people that are technically savvy, intellectually curious, that want to work with new technologies and redefine the way we do construction,' Alva said. 'Technology is changing the world. It's changing how we make things and our companies stand a chance of being at the leading edge of that rather than on the bleeding edge,' Ewing said. Youngstown Business Incubator to hold advanced manufacturing expo
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) — The Youngstown Business Incubator is ready to show the Youngstown area and northeast Ohio what it can do for entrepreneurs and manufacturers. It's holding an Advanced Manufacturing User Expo (AMUX) on May 20. The AMUX will attract area manufacturers to help them learn about advanced manufacturing. It's going to focus on how that can help end-users change the way they do business. 'And this to be an interactive conference where they can ask questions, figure out how to adopt it, where the most applicable applications are. Through a lot of the grants, we are offering facility walkthroughs, so come in and meet some of those people that are doing this work, and you know, see what opportunities are available for you to bring the technology in-house,' said Stephanie Gaffney, vice president of Advanced Manufacturing. The expo is May 20, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Eastwood Event Centre in Niles. Tickets can be purchased online. 'Having this event is gonna be important because it's gonna continue to remind people, what's the purpose of having this type of technology and the resources that are available to you here now in the Valley,' said Zac Divencenzo, co-founder and president of Juggerbot 3D.
