Adventure Passes are coming back to Iowa libraries this summer. How to get free passes:

After a months-long hiatus, the Iowa Adventure Pass will return to libraries later this year. Grimes Public Library, which started the program in 2017 to provide free access to local attractions for library members statewide, announced last December that the program would end at the start of 2025 due to the company managing the online reservation system discontinuing its services. The library announced recently that a new ticketing vendor and a new website provider for the program had been chosen and that visitors can expect to make reservations for the Iowa Adventure Pass starting in late spring or early summer. "The future of the Adventure Pass program was never in doubt, and we're very thankful for all the venues, attractions, and libraries that have worked through this 'pause' with us," Karalee Kerr, assistant director of the Grimes Public Library and head of the Adventure Pass Program, wrote in an email to the Des Moines Register. More: Iowa libraries are being forced to stop Adventure Passes, but they hope to bring them back The library is now working with the companies LocalHop and Library Market to administer the new ticketing system and website, Kerr said. The website where patrons will go to make reservations will look different than the original one, but should offer similar functionality. "A few libraries were not able to renew their participation in the program," Kerr wrote. "At this point, we are still working with the same partners. Once the site is back up and running, we look forward to adding new venues and libraries." Kerr previously told the Register that the program partnered with 16 venues across the state, including the Blank Park Zoo and Brenton Skating Plaza in Des Moines, and the Nelson Pioneer Farm and African American Museum in Oskaloosa and Cedar Rapids, respectively.
