SAMI concludes its participation as the Platinum Sponsor of the first Aerospace Connect Forum
Riyadh, Saudi Arabia: SAMI, the national defense and security champion, a PIF company, successfully concluded its participation as the Platinum Sponsor of the first Aerospace Connect Forum, held in Jeddah from February 24–25, 2025. Under the patronage of His Excellency Mr. Bandar bin Ibrahim Al-Khorayef, Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources, and organized by the Industrial Center and co-hosted by the General Authority of Civil Aviation, the forum was successful in driving innovation, promoting the localization of aerospace technologies in alignment with Vision 2030 and creating an ideal platform for international collaboration and investment. The forum was inaugurated by His Excellency Abdulaziz bin Abdullah Al-Duailej, President of the General Authority of Civil Aviation, and His Excellency Eng. Khalil bin Ibrahim bin Salamah, Deputy Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources for Industrial Affairs, who also visited the SAMI pavilion. As a Platinum Sponsor, SAMI's presence at the forum was particularly significant, showcasing its key division, SAMI Aerospace, through its subsidiaries, SAMI Alsalam Aerospace Industries, SAMI Figeac, SAMI Aerospace Mechanics and SAMI AEC. SAMI Figeac presented its latest innovations in aerospace components, including metal parts used in aircraft parts, floor beams, wing ribs, and Tailcone panels. Additionally, the F-15SA pylons, designed for mounting external equipment such as fuel tanks beneath aircraft wings, were showcased. These pylons are manufactured at SAMI Alsalam Aerospace Industries' facilities. Experts from across SAMI's divisions participated in a panel discussion titled "Trends, Challenges and Best Practices for Ensuring Aircraft Reliability and Safety," where they discussed the company's continuous efforts to enhance local aerospace manufacturing capabilities and identified opportunities for growth within the sector. At the close of the first day, and His Excellency Eng. Khalil bin Ibrahim bin Salamah, Deputy Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources for Industrial Affairs, alongside SAMI CEO, Eng. Thamer AlMuhid, and accompanying delegation toured the SAMI Aerospace Mechanics and SAMI Figeac Aero Manufacturing facilities. The visit provided an opportunity to assess progress, review advanced manufacturing technologies, and explore the Kingdom's growing industrial capabilities in aerospace, reinforcing the commitment to localizing 50% of Saudi Arabia's military spending by 2030.

Saudi Arabia signs deals to localize aerospace manufacturing, enhancing aviation hub status
JEDDAH: Saudi Arabia has signed multiple deals to localize aerospace manufacturing, including aircraft maintenance, air taxis, vertical take-off and landing systems, and helicopter production. During the Aerospace Connect Forum, held in Jeddah from Feb. 24 to 25, the National Industrial Development Center signed a memorandum of understanding with European aerospace company Airbus to advance helicopter development and localization in the Kingdom. This agreement, along with others, supports Saudi Vision 2030 by advancing aerospace localization and reinforcing its position as a global leader in the sector. It also aligns with the Kingdom's broader aviation and industrial strategies, promoting local manufacturing, attracting investment, and reducing reliance on imports. Additionally, these deals contribute to the General Authority for Military Industries' goal of localizing 50 percent of military spending by 2030. By partnering with global aerospace leaders, Saudi Arabia is fostering technological advancement, high-skilled jobs, and industrial growth. The Industrial Center has also signed a MoU with Kingdom Aero Industries and Doroni, focusing on localizing and manufacturing light-sport aircraft with vertical takeoff and landing capabilities. The deal involves a $30 million investment, with KAI contributing $5 million initially and up to $25 million over the next two years, in exchange for a 40 percent stake in Doroni. This partnership is set to accelerate the development of the H1-X, with commercial-scale manufacturing planned in Saudi Arabia starting in 2027. Both companies plan to establish a joint venture to manufacture and distribute the flying car globally. For the startup, this represents a major step in realizing its vision, while for KAI, it offers the opportunity to create a world-class production hub in the Kingdom, supporting the nation's aviation ambitions. The NIDC also signed a deal with the Second Airport Cluster Co. to localize national industries in the aerospace sector by enabling and incentivizing investors by providing dedicated spaces within airports to establish specialized aircraft maintenance centers. The strategic partnership represents a significant advancement in airport operations by uniting government efforts and fostering the localization of aircraft component manufacturing in the Kingdom, aligning with the National Aviation Strategy and the National Industry Strategy, according to Cluster2. As part of the National Industrial Development and Logistics Program's efforts to localize the manufacturing of titanium sponge metal-melting process pipes, the center signed an MoU with AIC STEEL and AMIC to strengthen local capabilities in advanced materials production and support industrial supply chains. The NIDC also inked an agreement with Life Shield, a Saudi company with extensive experience in the defense, military, and security sectors. Moreover, another deal was made with Auto Gyro, a firm which specializes in the innovation, production, and distribution of gyroplanes. These pacts focus on localization and technology transfer for manufacturing air taxis and helicopters.

RIYADH — The Ministry of Industry and Mineral Resources has announced the issuance of new industrial licenses for aircraft maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) services in Saudi Arabia. The announcement was made during the first edition of the Aerospace Connect Forum, held in Jeddah under the patronage of Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources Bandar Alkhorayef. The forum was organized by the National Industrial Development Center (NIDC). The ministry stated that the newly introduced industrial licenses, launched in collaboration with the General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA) and the General Authority for Military Industries (GAMI), cover various activities, including aircraft and drone maintenance and repair, navigational and electronic systems servicing, and comprehensive aircraft overhaul operations. Saudi Arabia launches aviation industry cluster in Jeddah to drive advanced manufacturing
RIYADH: The Saudi Authority for Industrial Cities and Technology Zones has revealed plans for a 1.2 million sq. m aviation industry cluster at MODON Oasis in Jeddah. This ambitious project, developed in partnership with the Ministry of Industry and Mineral Resources and the General Authority of Civil Aviation, aims to localize cutting-edge aviation technologies and strengthen the sector's supply chains. The announcement, made during the ongoing Aerospace Connect Forum, was attended by GACA President Abdulaziz Al-Duailej, Khalil bin Ibrahim bin Salamah, deputy minister of industry and mineral resources for industrial affairs, and MODON CEO Majed Al-Argoubi. Strategically located near King Abdulaziz International Airport and Jeddah Islamic Port, the aviation cluster is poised to offer an attractive investment landscape for aerospace manufacturing. The site will feature ready-built factories of varying sizes, designed to accommodate companies in the aviation sector and drive the localization of this vital industry. This initiative is in line with Saudi Arabia's National Industrial Strategy, Aviation Strategy, and Tourism Strategy, which collectively aim to position the Kingdom as a leading global aviation hub. The broader goal is to transform Saudi Arabia into a center for air transport, handling 30 million passengers and 2 million tonnes of air cargo annually. MODON, in its commitment to advancing the aviation sector, is participating as a 'Gold Partner' in the inaugural Aerospace Connect Forum, which runs in Jeddah until Feb. 25. The event is bringing together prominent local and international aviation experts, fostering a platform for knowledge exchange and business collaboration. In addition to its efforts in aviation, MODON has also recently launched a food industry cluster in Jeddah, spanning over 11 million sq. m in the city's second and third industrial zones. According to the Saudi Press Agency, this project is the world's largest food industry cluster by area, supporting Vision 2030's goals to enhance food security and industrial growth.
